streaming What are you watching rn?

I saw "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" and "A Behanding in Spokane" in New York
and "Hangman" in London.

I'm glad I didn't see the trailer for "The Banshees of Inisherin" before I saw the
movie - it takes a while to get to the "big moment" and I really couldn't see where
the story was going. So nice to see Farrell and Gleeson working together.

Murder on the orient express (1974). Good film with some really strange looking people. I mean, several of the women and one or two of the men were practically made up in clown white make up. The detective looked like someone super glued his hair to his skull. Rachel Roberts looked like Nathan Lane without his wig in The Bird Cage (with Robin Williams). Wendy Hiller looked like Gary Oldman made up as Dracula. It all just added to the fun really.

Tonight; National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

"Merry Christmas" The shitter's full!"

This woman works THREE jobs AND raises the kids.. so her husband can spend his whole life studying their bible.

No comments on the orthodox jews?
Ya'll got an adidas sponsorship you're afraid of losing? lol jk

I rewatched some of holy grail and ... some of this stuff really hits different, like this peasant trying to cancel king arthur.
Back in the day it was funny, but now seems like its not even a joke, this is how people actually behave now

This is the strangest podcast.. listen to the first 3 minutes lol, these guys are just grasping at straws and nobody has any idea wtf theyr'e talking about lol. That's the charm of this podcast i guess, it's funny to watch these successful guys struggle so hard.

Man these guys have some really dumb fucking stories too - the best was when Anders tried to prank his friends to look like he hung himself but he messed up and actually hung himself. His friends came in and he was unconscious hanging from his neck and moments from death without any outside intervention. It was a setup to prank his friends so fortunately the timing was good for them to shortly walk in , saw him, took him off the rope and saved his life LOL dude anders almost got a Darwin award.

Time for some Liquid Sky

Filmed in New York City then released in 1982. A fascinating film about aliens that feed off the energy produced in the brain of someone having an orgasm. It takes place in a New York sub-culture of fake fashion and totally fucked up music. I love it. if you haven't seen this film, find a copy, get a nice cheap bottle of wine or a joint, sit down and prepare to have your sensibilities assaulted.

The female lead, Margaret, and the male lead, Jimmy, are played by the same actress, Anne Carlisle.

Didn't know this dude did 21 Grams
God what a STUPID title for a movie lol.

21 grams "MacDougall hypothesized that souls have physical weight, and attempted to measure the mass lost by a human when the soul departed the body."

Poisoning dogs trying to measure the weight lost when someone dies, when in reality it's just their fucking bowels relaxing and gas releasing.
So they name this movie 21 grams trying to be deep about a soul but really they just named their movie after a death fart.

Wolf of wall street.

Here's a back and forth that really sticks with me for some reason. It's a 22 second clip.

It's probably only funny to me because it's 5 am, but i watched it 3 times and laughed all 3 times

I felt like a narrator was missing.

"when you want to drink an expensive whiskey, but you don't know the names of the expensive whiskies, Ask for Crown Royal, the expensive whiskey you can buy at a gas station"

I think it's the music.
it's like some cheesy porn music or something, and then the overly sweaty bottle, it's really hitting all the wrong notes, it becomes so bad that its good. then that slow motion pour comes on and i just totally lose my shit.

I enjoyed that again on the 4th watch here at 7am.
Damn I really need to get to sleep.

Almost finished season one of Fargo

Has anyone else watched this cause I am kinda confused by something
She gets shot by the animal control cop.
She is in the hospital and said she lost her spleen.
An episode later she's up and about walking around and like 'yeah that dr said it was no big deal the bullet went straight through'
okay now I'm not a dr or anything but a bullet rupturing your spleen and having an organ removed seems like a whole bucket of problems compared to a bullet passing straight through, wtf is going on here

There is a great cast here, and the show is well paced, but billy bob looks so frail like he weighs 130 lbs and i have a really difficult time believing he is this huge badass, despite his acting skills, I keep imagining this dude is gonna fold like paper with a single punch

Well, I'd say first that there is some "dramatic license" here with the immediate recovery from surgery. Second, if you were picking out an organ to get shot in, you can probably do worse than spleen. Third, a clean bullet wound where the bullet exits is typically less damaging and easier to treat than a situation where the body took the full impact of the bullet, and the bullet lodged or shattered inside.

Tv actually tends to exaggerate how effective bullets are. I think the record is that a guy got shot 17 times before dying. There are stories of people in wars that got shot 2-3 times and then walked for miles to get medical help.

Anyway, dependent on many factors, it might not be as unrealistic as it seems.

A major factor would have been the caliber and type of bullet, which isn't specified. Basically you don't want to get shot with anything 9mm and up.

Actually it is specified because you see the gun in his hand, which is a glock 45, and because he is a police officer using his service gun you can therefore surmise that he is using hollow point bullets (they expand when entering soft tissue, creating a larger wound channel and massively increasing the chance of death)

Really don't need you to explain bullets to me lol

Well, then if the question is, would someone who was gutshot with a 45 hollowpoint would be out of the hospital the next day, definitely not.

Oh for sure but I'm really confused as to how they describe two totally different wounds.
At first they say ruptured organ, and then later they say it was a clean-thru .. these are two very distinctly, different things.

I had assumed it wasn't a hollow point because it said clean through. That's the whole point of a hollow point is to not go through clean. I'm not 100% sure on the wording, but I think just being pierced would count as a rupture. My medical knowledge ends before spleen ruptures start though, so ultimately I don't know. If I had to guess, I'd say the writers probably didn't worry about it that much. Injuries on shows are frequently dismissed like this. I can't actually remember a show other than Dexter where a main character was in the hospital for more than one episode, even with what should be severe injuries.
