That's something that Indietalk should look at, Flicker. Perhaps note will be taken if it was organised of our own accord, and deemed succesfull. Then, upon the participation regularity, become a fixture.

I'd suggest a 1-2 minute cap primarily, a solitary subject matter or "Must includes'", and see what comes out of it...

I think it would be great to do something like this in a more regular basis. I heard of the legend of the Indietalk script to screen challenge, but that must have stopped some time ago... Something like that?

I'm glad that we all enjoyed it and now that I've got some new toys after Christmas I'm looking forward to having a bit more fun. But it's up to indietalk to decide whether he wants the added stress of reopening this sort of challenge, presumably there was a reason why the original one shut down...?

I'd imagine so, yet I can't help but think a sucessful run constructed of our own accord is the first step. 'Testing the waters' so to say. It may even appeal to the many guests that regularly peer through the IT window, but hesitate when taking the plunge.

It could be very beneficial.

Maybe this is something worth talking about more thoroughly...

Well I'm gamer than a partridge, as always! :D

Perhaps someone should make a dedicated thread for this discussion? I'll respect you if you do... :)

I haven't been around IndieTalk that long, but assumed something like this had been done before. I'm thinking it would be more a friendly challenge than a competition. No high stakes or wild expectations; simply here's a genre, a theme, maybe a prop, a character or what have you... post your movie in a month.

The Christmas/holiday theme came through with the Secret Santa videos so it's not a leap to imagine folks here putting something together that is creative and fun with more time.

In the end, just a way to keep the gears turning while working on other projects.

Cheers!

Jeff

There were about 5 or 6 ITOOFC events before they were retired. Even though in good fun, they did end up becoming far more stressful than intended... and for some, more of an obligation after a while than goofy event.

There were some great films that came out of them, though.

That's what i feared.

IT is a very member-friendly, learn-at-leisure forum. No strings. No strict requirements -outside of regulation- to your participation. All of the above work heavily in its favour. Perfect atmosphere to enable the majority to learn.

And from what we've seen with SS, the idea is very rewarding, although not without its stresses...

So, would the encouragement be healthy, or an unnecessary poke that most will shy away from?

I think it's a cool idea. Perhaps they shouldn't be so regular. Maybe a quarterly thing. And we can always organize it ourselves, like we just did. We just did Secret Santa, so let's give it some time off, and a couple months from now, start taking sign-ups.

I think it's a cool idea too. I'm also part of a Sci-Fi forum (many talents! ;)) and they regularly have story challenges and what not(but it's one thing to type up words- another to plan, film, edit and render a short-and I do both lol)

And as has been suggested, if someone joins to do one, but can't fulfil it, no harm-most people have lives outside of their filmmaking (I don't have a life myself, but that's me:lol:)

EW that was very sweet and your Spanish friends seemed remarkably unconfused about the whole situation! :)

Anyhow, presumably one person on here hasn't received a gift yet. Any ideas who?

Thanks! I know, it wasn't scripted or anything. I just asked the questions and was surprised myself when they jumped in with such gusto. Although there are a few awkward ones in there. The French guy was quite good as well.

So Wheat and Tina are left without gifts? That's not right :(

My gift was from Cracker Funk, flip back a page-absolutely brilliant(and the sneaky devil was able to do some impressive research on me! LOL)

My bill for trademark infringment is in the mail CF! LOL :D

Ah, right! I saw it twice when he posted it. It just slipped my mind bc when you said in ur earlier post that you could cry about not receiving a second present, i didn't read it properly and thought u hadn't received one.

So it's just Wheat then?

THANKS, GOOBERMAN! I love it.

merry christmas, everyone!

FINALLY!!! This is my first project i've done solo and i ran into every problem imaginable! My computer isn't liking After Effects right now so I had to ditch my kick ass time travel video and take a different route. I hope you all enjoy. I had a lot of fun making this video. Merry Christmas UraniumCity!

Hey everyone. I came down with the flu and have been bed-ridden for the past week, so my film still isn't up. I'm at least somewhat able to function now, so I'll hopefully have some sort of clip up tomorrow. Sorry for being late!
