The Unofficial Song of the Day Thread

Love this one. I've just been blasting it and singing along over and over. I hope my neighbors like the Turtles.

Just discovered this band the other day - surprised I've never heard 'em before.

This band has an awesome sense of humor with sharp witted writing. Something a little different, too.

I just love threads like this! This is a great song from on of my favorite bands. It's a little different, but definitely worth one listen.

If you like this one, check out the others; all of them are masterpieces.

I like this one a lot. Thanks for making me discover it!

Mine today:

I don't usually listen to classical music but I was struck by this piece. Terrence Malick used it in "Tree of life". It's Francois Couperin's "Les barricades mysterieuses". You can find many versions on YouTube.

This one is my favorite on piano:

It only lasts 2:30. I don't why the guy who posted it added 3 mn of silence.

Alcove, you win this thread with Cage! (though your earlier Strawbs pick is a personal favorite as well. Actually, the first song I performed live with my girlfriend!).

In a different direction, my all-time favorite song/video:

@that1guy - Right in Two is definitely up there on my list of Tool tracks.

Feeling the metal today:

Saw this band back when The Pound (RIP :() still existed in SF. They were excellent llive, enough so that I forgot who they were opening for:

Want to say I've brought them up in a thread about female metal singers, but perhaps on another board.

Cry Baby by Japanese Voyeurs

100% certain that this is not for everybody!

Been keeping in eye on this band since I first heard them a year ago. Finally got their album today and I absolutely love it. It's a strange one, there's so much there to dislike, yet I can't help but feel massively impressed. I really can't put my finger on it...

Thoughts anyone?

I like the song mad hatter. Puts me in mind of some of the old Veruca Salt stuff, who I've always loved. I'll have to check out more of their stuff. And while I'm thinking of 90s female fronted rock bands (Belly is one of my favorite bands EVER), it made me want to listen to this, which is not really similar to the Japanese Voyeurs song, but one of my favorites:

Very cheesy Josh... for some reason it reminds me of Republica. There's something incredibly sexy about a girl with a guitar!

Brett... take the end of the youtube.com URL, whatever's after the equals (=) sign, in your case "JBIID49cMI0". Put it in YT tags, using the YT button above the reply box. Bob's you uncle!

Before anyone points this out- Yes, I did only start to like this song after it was featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One.

Still, 'tis an awesome song however I found it ;)
