One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Next directed by Miloš Forman - 10/10
A wonderful masterpiece, with several great performances! Initially, I was disappointed in how it portrayed mental illness but then I realized that the film was really about something else. It has a universal theme that anyone can connect to since they are able to go to school. The storytelling was amazing, and the music is haunting. What I loved most was the characters, and how it wasn't just about McMurphy, but also the development of the whole cast (esp. Chief).

I just watched this, I rate it 3/10
It lacked artistic vision for me, it was trying to be art and personal but felt like it was overdoing it, it was as if he was trying to be a smartass which just didn't work for me.
The ending gets me every time.
Currently watching Stop Making Sense.

Well I never thought the film that great a vision, but I think it was good enough for a one minute film. I wouldn't say he was trying to be a 'smartass' though. The ending was predictable, so if he was trying to be 'smart' with that then he did fail LOL. The cinematography and music was great though, the contemplation these kinds of films are supposed to offer is not very deep here but again it is only one minute long.
Yeah, the ending was just so great. For me the whole ending segments were startling in their change of tone, but it made the film much more powerful. A very haunting yet beautiful film IMO.

Ehhh perhaps I shouldn't have watched it because I've never seen the first "Red"? Nor did I know it ever existed.... I picked it up based on trailers and had a promo code for Redbox...
I was honestly surprised when I put it in and the DC Comics logo came up, I always put a large amount of faith in DC movies, from that point on I was glued to the screen taking it in for what it was, a comic adaption.
I enjoyed the little side splatter comic panel transactions, it was smooth but the music they played to go with it... was a little jarring. The music for transactions was just... too fast paced...
Overall I'm going to say 6/10... it was a good movie but god was it predictable and jesus these people can't aim guns. Plus I think this movie was going for a pretty down to earth realism.. aside from extreme reflexes... and they completely slaughter that when

Sarah looks Frog in the eyes and he just jumps up and sling a blade at her! I make eye contact with so many strangers when I go in buildings... I would be dead if that's how people reacted... even if they are the top secret database of all things. Secondly, I knew the bomb was put on the plane, he seemed like the character that would rather die than let that nuke go off, but how the HELL did he get it out of the case and into the vent behind it?!?!
Die Hard: With A Vengeance directed by John McTiernan - 8/10
This was one of my favorite films when I was growing up, and it's still a lot of fun. I think this film could've been a 9/10 if it had kept up the mystery and suspense of the first half of the film. Still even with its flaws its an exciting and engaging action film!

The writer/director won a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting for the original draft.
The film/director/script has been mentioned as a possible 2014 Academy awards nominee.
I have read the original Nicholl-winning script which blew me away.
The movie cut quite a bit from it. If the movie had been based on the original script, I'm sure I would have scored it 9.5/10 or even a 10.

The budget was indie low. So low they had to guerilla film in a bus, and complete filming within just 20 days.

It's nominated for Best Actress in the Critics Choice Awards, that's something right? Kinda makes that Academy seem more possible... (why do they announce last?! D<)
I think they shot it entirely handheld with a camera shoulder rig. The director wanted to bring the audience close-up, be intimate with the actors and drama. Worked for me but indeed, some do not like that style.
Tange Sazen and the Pot Worth a Million Ryo directed by Sadao Yamanaka - 10/10
The earliest of Sadao Yamanaka's three surviving films is a masterpiece! The film's 'pot worth a million ryo' is one of the great McGuffins up there with The Maltese Falcon or the suitcase in Pulp Fiction driving this comedy. What I love about this film is that I has both drama and comedy, even action as well but it just has this unique atmosphere that makes all of it fit together. There is some masterful cinematography here and even greater editing that takes techniques such as wipes and gives them meaning I've never seen in other films. It also makes great use of cinematic ellipsis as was common in the classic Asian masterpieces of the period as well as some Ozu-esque graphic matching. It also has one of the coolest theme songs I've ever heard in cinema. Unfortunately, Sadao Yamanaka is one of the Japanese masters who will never be celebrated like an Ozu, Kurosawa, or Mizoguchi because he died at the young age of 29 and all of his work (he was considered to be the greatest Japanese silent film master) with the exception of his three sound films are lost.

It's fair as films go. The look back at old school analog tape is fun for a guy like me, and, in some ways, I connected with the ADR & sound effects sessions portrayed in the film, and with the (character of) the director; is he a genius or just another pretentious a$$hole?
Although visually and sonically compelling I never quite connected with the story, and needed some sort of explanation and/or resolution which I never got.
5/10 for the average filmgoer.
7/10 for filmmakers.
