Time

Mesmerizing. Gives me a Koyaanisqatsi feel.
Fricke has always been a huge influence. I probably watched Chronos 20 times when I was younger. I'm glad they made Samsara, it had been a while since anyone made one of these. I might go ahead and make a feature out of this one at some point. There's actually about 30 minutes of footage already, I just cut it really fast. No time to do a month long sidetrack right now.

I like the groove you created by editing slightly behind the beat.

You nailed it. It's amazing what you can do when you build your own video editor with custom controls to do really specific things. Here's a screenshot of the section of the interface where I did that. You see the control marked "beat offset in frames"? Different music tracks produce a different feel depending on how their bpm interacts with the 24 frames per second frame rate. I added a little bit of scripting to this control for this one To make it gradually converge with the beat over time. It felt like it was increasing the hypnotic effect. I did the same thing with the music, But backwards. Not exactly my best musical composition, But I felt like the rhythms between the footage and music worked.

Oh it's the first thing I noticed. It was ever so slight but created a groove. It has to be set just right to create that head bobbing grove, and it has to be undetectable (so to speak), otherwise it can look/sound like a mistake. Bravo!

I forget who I learned that from, it was somebody really famous, Like 20 years ago some producer mentioned that quantizing everything under the same beats sounded sterile and lifeless, And you should always do your basslines freeform to get a living groove. Good advice.

I've learned something interesting about people noticing things. There are a lot of things people don't consciously notice, But they get a feeling that they can't quite put their finger on, and they noticed that feeling. So the takeaway is that those subtle changes do make a difference, You just don't get a lot of feedback usually, because people don't notice that they noticed.

I threw in a flying saucer for you at 2:14, lol.
And it's called TIME! How poignant.

Hey nice TIMING - it's June 26th - the 3 year anniversary of my ufo sighting.
To celebrate this occasion, for the very first time, I've hand drawn a picture of the UFO that I saw!

I will reveal it later today. It's just a fancy triangle, looks a pool rack thats way too thick, but nonetheless, it shall be REVEALED!

Just FYI for people reading this thread, I'm about to open up the closed beta test Of the section of the Save Point pipeline that was used to produce this video to members of this forum. For anyone who's interested I'll give you the basics in my next post.
