I finished my first draft

Just so every one knows, I actually finished something, to some degree. This is a big deal for me since, in my long career of writing (literally since I was 8) I have finished one thing, count it, ONE, of substantial length and structure. So to finish a 98 page first draft of a screenplay (or 98 pages of anything really) is by far the biggest accomplishment I've made. Not just when it comes to writing either, I'm putting this in like my Top 10 Proudest Moments Of My Whole Life Ever.
Wow. I'm so amazed.

Anyway, just wanted to share with fellow writers :D

And I wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you! The people on this site have helped me so much already, especially Buddy and CF. Your advice and coaching and general words of wisdom have been invaluable. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this site. You are all such wonderful people.

P.S. Yes, I realise a first draft is hardly something to get so excited about and that I still have a long way to go if I want to make this into a film, but seriously, this is huge for me. I've been working on the same story since I was 16 and am inclined to think it will never be finished. Just to illustrate how bad I am at finishing things.

BADASS!!!

Thanks for the shout-out, though I had nothing to do with the script -- I just sent you a book, and cracked a bunch of stupid jokes. But I'll take what I can get. Buddy is a veritable gold-mine of good ideas. I swear, he never runs out of them!

Congrats!

That's friggin' awesome!

You'll be fine-tuning it to the end of time, no doubt, but it sure feels good when you can kick back & relax a bit after the hard slog has been done.

Thanks Buddy. That is true <3

Haha, Steve, you're close, but not quite. It's actually about a woman who's entire body is made of awesome and her epic battle with the forces of Lamedom.... Yes that was the best I could come up with. Right now my head is full of vegan facts and persuasive techniques. Tafe is punching me in the face right now :/

:D Thanks every one *blush*

Tafe is what we call adult tertiary institutions. I think it stands for Tertiary And Further Education. Or Training And Further Education. One or the other. It's where you get trade qualifications and and can do bridging courses to get into uni if you didn't get the result you needed at high school. And all that sort of stuff. Anything to do with adult learning basically. I'm doing my high school equivalency at the moment.

Yeah, I pretty much just puke excellence.

It's actually about a teenage slut who falls for the wrong guy and consequently goes through some really bad stuff before finally breaking free from him and turning out okay. In a nutshell :P

I'm so glad I came across this thread! I've been working on the same script since I was 18, and I'm 31 now and I'm still not finished with a first draft!

I need to stop being such a perfectionist and just get it done, and your thread is a great inspiration to someone like me who is equally, if not moreso, bad at finishing things.

Lol, no probs. I'm pretty inspiring :P Just get it all out man, then fix it up. I've been figuring out the same story for 7 years now, and it still hasn't evolved into a complete anything (it started out as a novel, then a re-write, then a screenplay, then a re-write of that) lol. Good luck :D
