    Janus Professional Sound Library

This I know, that is why I said 'for reference' in case anyone else came across the thread, as I did, by doing a google search. There is a guy selling the 6 CD (5000 SFX) version on ebay for around $25. He says he has permission and a bit of googeling does not contradict that. Ben

Shooting at night with Nightshot Camera, can I add extra light

Hi, I want to shoot at night, its a documentary and includes a woman who feeds badgers, I cant add extra 'visible' light as it will scare them away. I have a Sony HC1E which has Nightshoot mode. It looks like it has some sort of inferred light in it but its not very powerful. Can I build or buy...

    Suggestions on a beginner camera

I think I used the wrong term. What I meant was does the camera with the kit lens hold focus during zoom, i.e. does it have back focus. Ben

    Suggestions on a beginner camera

The NEX-VG10E is 1/2 the price of the AF100 I am also looking at this camera. Can it pull focus, looks like a great budget option at half the price on the AF100/101.

Is Sony NEX-VG10E the budget answer

I am looking for a camcorder with a large sensor primevally for shooting interviews. I have a Canon 550D which is fine as I can record separate sound but as it does not have hold focus through zoom (back focus) it is not ideal. The Sony NEX-VG10E seems like a good budget option but I am unsure...

Chhosing a monitor Viewsonic VP2365wb or Dell Ultrasharp U2311H

Hi, Ime looking for a decent (but budget) computer monitor. The Viewsonic VP2365wb and Dell Ultrasharp U2311H are both under £250 and look like they are both OK for basic grading (I have a video monitor for fine tuning). Has anyone any thoughts on which to go for or an alternative under £300...

New Rough Guide to recording video location sound - comments please

Hi, I have been writing a beginners guide to sound. As well as helping people get started it also aims to ensure people realise the importance of sound and having a good sound recordist. I am not a sound engineer but have written it with the help from some I know. Would be good if people...

So I chose FCP as my wepon of choice for University then FCPX comes out:(.

Thanks for that, is an MA I am doing, I have been making films for over 10 years including stuff for Local Council and even flirted with broadcast. My main MA project is probably going to be a 1houre to feature length documentary so I need something fairly industrial. My stuff is at...

So I chose FCP as my wepon of choice for University then FCPX comes out:(.

Ok, bit of background probably needed. A couple of years ago I got into Sony Vegas and was very happy with it. I then decided to do A MA in Media and Culture (starting this September) and thought it would be good to learn one of the systems they use (Avid and FCP). I thought this would aid...

Good HD camera to take to Gaza

Thanks for replying. For me Hard Drives are a very bad idea. They are fragile and you could loose everything if they go wrong. SD card or something like it are the way to go. Also I think that camera is Standard Definition. The HF100 produces nice looking full HD.

Good HD camera to take to Gaza

Hi, I am helping an arts project that is going to Gaza. We have someone who is documenting it and we have a Canon HF100 camera. Its a great little camera and although it is a bit basic does have mic and headphone sockets and produces nice footage as long as the light is not too low. We would...

Sharing Drives betweem Windows/Mac (FCP/VSaony Vegas).

It needs to be able to handle files over 4GB. Paragon NTFS seems an option although I am trying to find out if people have had problems with it corrupting files.

Sharing Drives betweem Windows/Mac (FCP/VSaony Vegas).

Hi everyone. I use both Mac and Windows programs to edit. I am in the process of putting together a mirrored RAID array for storing media files. The question is should I use a Mac or Windows File system. If I format for Windows/NTFS I will need to get one of the paid for (not shore which one)...
