misc Why do TV shows keep attention better?

Why is it 180 minute movies seem long as hell and in dire need of editing, but I can spend an entire week watching 180 hours of 24 and then want another season?
What exactly is going on that a movie has way more thought, time and money put into it and yet is boring and long with 1/10th of the running time of a show?

Anyone have any good resources or opinions on structuring of a TV show - not just episodes but seasons as well...
Like is every single episode hitting the same notes at the same time if I were to go back and mark everything down for a season of 24?

Big moment at 12 minutes, 30 minutes and the end of the episode?
What about season after season after season, do they all just keep repeating the heroes journey?

Should be a shirt named “art if y
Movies use the same approach. You think ET just really liked those Reese's Pieces? Product placement is a given. Really has nothing to do with the question at hand. In fact I'd much rather see real products than fake. They take me out of it. If someone is on Facebook, believable. On FaceNOOK, cheeesy! While drinking that COOKY COLA in the read can. 😂
I would love to see an interview of a tv writer and marketing exec:) Keeping it real keeps you real broke :) they are all doing it to make bucks. And Indietalk who still talks about ET and how many billions did Star Wars make? A marketing dream for billions. Cmon now

They are still selling soap or whatever else and the same products, look around on their social media page, even the site here (Indietalk) is hocking products, don’t be nieve lol

I understand I may of offended you with reality of money, and am sorry about that. So you are saying advertisements are not how people make money in this tv show industry?
please provide me with a reference to all the merchandise and advertising revenue that was brought in by game of thrones

thats what i thought, no references, I wanted to see for sure and now i know.

he's not interested in having a informed discussion, he just wants to troll me and shit out his mouth onto the keyboard.
I'll stop responding to it now :)

Not at all, you act like writers of shows are not trying to capitalize off the advertising dollar, which is reality, nobody cares about being cool and broke, they want to get paid. Successful ones do. Not even a topic.

Why don't you start a new thread about it? This one you keep taking off subject.

Well so far I've watched Picard Season 3 and a bit of 24: Legacy and it seems like the key is really just about mini challenges.
Like an episode or 2 to overcome something and then move the larger plot forward an inch.

So every TV writer is set out to make art in the hopes of bringing in revenue by interest “somehow” and not crafting attention toward a product for now. Got it, I am enlightened.

@sfoster I found this.
Even martin Scorsese said cinema is over lol, it comes down to people that have no attention span to art imo lol

This is your film representation that have no clue about art, they need constant stimulation because they can’t think deeper than step 2 lol
