Your first attempts at film making

These are my first attempts at film making. They were very lazy and rushed and I didn't put any effort into them, I made them bad on purpose so I don't consider them "my first short films" but they were my first attempts at using a video camera to film something into a storyline.(I made some short films before, but all done in this online MMO game I use to play, so no camera used.)

They're really bad but really funny so I suggest you guys check them out.

My Jurassic Park spoof:

My Predator Spoof:

Both starring my dog!

I expect to see some REALLY bad movies! So get posting.

Did you really do what I saw..... You really used some footage of Jurassic Park...

If it was, at lest used in a imaginative way, I wiil say maybe.... OK.

But what you did is just plain in simple nothing. Just a big nothing. What you want me to say about this.

A- The shot you stole from Jurassic Park are nice.

B- The acting is awesome of your Hollywood A list actors.

C- That you are so clever of using existing footage of a Hollywood blockbuster.

D- That you are a good prankster.

You know what... You got me, because I spend 3 min writhing you about what you did, so you haft succeed.

But, bottom line, you have no merit at all on what you did, I would not even say you did something.

Good luck in your pipe dream

:)

Well... he did mention that in the OP, Belangerrr :)

The second video was a lot more interesting, btw. MS-Paint-fanged dog is lol.

Heck, I'm not sure I could even find my first videos. They all consisted of re-editing various movies to an original soundtrack a friend of mine scored, using audio samples from the flicks. Mainly an exercise in how to use NLE software.

Good times.

Well if it's an exercise, is not a good one in my perceptive. I think is lazy and easy. Anybody can make original footage now. I think there is no excuses to use blockbusters footage, sorry it glitch in my head just writing it.

..........................
that has hurt me in the deepest ways, i am crying.
why do people do this?!!?!?!?! i mean! even if you lack the ability to make something great, people can still be creative!.......

more respect to the second one, but still.......
lets see, my first video i worked on has got to be.....

Wow, what's your problem man. Did you not read my post? I just said they were lazy, rushed and I didn't put any effort into them. The shot you stole from Jurassic Park? What? Why are we going into copyright? Did I just make a feature film or something? that thing is just a piece of shit I made in 10 minutes. But the fact of the matter is this It started me off using editing programs and was my first attempt at film making.

Some of you guys are taking this too seriously and maybe you should read my original post again. Your acting like I actually tried to make a proper short film that I would enter into a film festival. Just to make this clear: THESE VIDEOS WE'RE NOT MY FIRST PROPER SHORT FILMS, THEY'RE JUST GARBAGE I PUT TOGETHER IN 10 MINUTES. BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT. THE POINT IS THAT I USED A CAMERA AND A VIDEO EDITING PROGRAM! Hence the thread title "first attempts at film making!"

I'm not looking for your first short films, I'm looking for your first attempts at film making. Doesn't matter if it's a crappy fictional film about you and your friends smoking weed or a badly edited video of two guys fighting.

I said to expect to see some REALLY bad movies, and that's exactly what you got! Belanger, if you misunderstood my post or if there's a language barrier then fair enough dude, it's cool. But if you insist on having that elitist, big bad auteur attitude then fuck off right now.

my first attempt at filmmaking

well... here's my first attempt at any kind of screenwriting/filmmaking/editing/etc, back in 2004... had no idea what i was doing before this... haha... for mine, instead of being a silly little lazy thing, it was definitely too big and involved of a project for my first ever attempt (26 minutes)... but i certainly learned a lot... there are a few spots in there that i'm still proud of... but definitely a lot that i would do differently now... and none of the people were actors... just friends who did it for fun or to help me out...

I'm actually working on my first one right now; a documentary for my sociology class. With me doing about 80% of the work while one holds the mic and the other I cast as the narrator. How I wish I could have an AD or a script sup. I swear this video is going to suck the life out of me...

But I can't wait to do another after this. ;)

You, sir, have got the bug...there are far more simpler hobbies and endeavors, but few as rewarding.

My first efforts:

This is a montage of early Super 8mm films - werewolves, slashers, spies, big lizards, etc.

Old Super 8mm movies (Give it a minute to load up)

The werewolf gets shot!

Scenes from my 16mm crawling hand comedy. Pardon the noise of the projector!

THE GRABBER (Give it a minute to load up)

Scenes from my 16mm face ripping flick:

DESTINY'S ROAD (Give it a minute to load up)

I did some pretty stupid stuff. In one movie I turned into a German Shepherd and became a seeing eye dog!

Damn, you guys are lucky to have been able to use proper cameras like super 8mm for your first attempts. I just used a digital camera.

My very first ever short film (created in 1999 with a borrowed VHSC camera):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JxkYgYBwFZM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JxkYgYBwFZM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

From idea to finished short was four days: 1 for script/storyboard, 1 for filming, 1 for editing/effects, and 1 for musical score composition (using Voyetra Sequencer Gold and a ProteusFX synth).

I don't think luck had anything to do with it.

For us older guys that was all that was available. We
didn't have digital cameras when were were making
out first films. And don't think of us as too lucky. When
I got started minimum wage was $1.60/hr and three
minutes of super 8 film cost $4.38 (with processing -
that number is forever burned in my mind). Today
minimum wage is $7.25/hr and one hour of tape costs
$4.00.

Don't get me started on editing super 8 sound....

Ya know, a digital camera is a proper camera. You should
be able to make a fine movie with a digital camera.

My first experience was editing some footage that someone else shot (about 5 minutes worth). Don't really have a copy of that. My first actual movie-making project was Finger.
