movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

The Bleeding House - 2/10 - flat out awful. The dialogue was awful - it seems that the scren writer looked up words in the thesaurus and inserted them without even thinking how it flowed with the character. The title should have been something else. MC was a decent actor but the rest were just horrid.

Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy - 6.5/10 - pretty decent film. Very, very similar feeling to Trainspotting, even down to the introduction of the characters. A few things that didn't seem to make sense and the ending was very predictable. It was great to see Kristen Kreuk get some work - sorry, she's a gorgeous lady :).

Pacific Rim - Yeah it was ok. Looks fantastic but really not that much else going on in there. 7/10

Black Cat White Cat - finally got round to watching this, weddings with ganagsta gypsies on the banks of the danube... enjoyable farce 6.5/10

Ivan Rublev - Best Film ever made?? Yeah not sure on that, 3 hour epic about a Russian monk. Fell right in the middle of the other Tarkovskys in terms of enjoyment... It's not close to Stalker but thankfully not as bad as Nostalgia. 6/10

Russian Ark 10/10
Fermat's Room 10/10
Mulholland Drive 10/10

Love all of those movies. I've seen Mulholland Drive 3 times, and it gets better each time. The cinematography is beautiful, and the acting is amazing. The score is superb. David Lynch is an amazing director. The scene where
The two guys in the restaurant go to the wall behind the restaurant and find the demonic guy
still freaks me out.

Source Code ****

Having been told the ending was bad, I had low expectations.
This was captivating from the very start and the ending was fine with me too! Quite entertaining.

Side Effects - 4/10
Another Soderbergh hit or miss: Miss.
Too boring. Turned it off after 20mins.

Moonrise Kingdom - 8/10
Wow. What a odd and amusing film.
Definitely worth watching once.
Certainly isn't predictable from one weird scene to another.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - 7/10
The story is rather boring.
The cinematography is gorgeous.
Same director as 'Killing Them Softly', also a gorgeous film but meh story.

The Call - 6/10
Halle Berry is aging rather well.
The story is kinda meh and jumps the shark at the third act.

A Good Day to Die Hard - 7/10
Uncanny valley with the score music strongly influenced from the original. Seems kinda out of place.
Fair enough story.
Nice semi-twist with the daughter.
I kinda got bored with the car chase, but that was a pretty cool armored military truck!
Actor who played Jack just wasn't working for me.
And Bruce is... waaaaay too old for this role, but he does appear to be in very good shape.

The Last Exorcism 2 - 4/10
Boring.
Turned it off at 20 minutes in.

I liked Rushmore a lot, but Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite Wes Anderson film. I still think Coppola should have picked up the Academy Award for best screenplay.

Cry Me A River directed by Jia Zhangke - 7.5/10
I don't really feel like I can rate this short film since I didn't pay attention as much as I should, I'm going to re-watch it soon. But it still left a good impression on me artistically.

Winter's Bone directed by Debra Granik - 8/10
This was a re-watch, I enjoyed it much more this time around as I paid more attention to it. The lead actors were great, and I love the style of the cinematography of this film.

April Story directed by Shunji Iwai - 9/10
This was a great short film, it was a very simple story of a girl going off to college. I love just about every frame of this picture, I just feel it works stronger when it doesn't try to be a love story (which is almost tacked on in the end).

Dial M For Murder directed by Alfred Hitchcock - 10/10
The master of suspense does a perfect job of adapting a one-set play to the big screen. This is just a perfect movie to me as its plot unravels it gets even more enjoyable to follow it. Although the film uses great imagery from the few sets, it also has the great surreal court scene which I loved.

Peeping Tom (1960) by Powell - 7/10.

A disturbing thriller for it's time, I suppose, but the stage-style British acting really takes me out of it.

Children of the Corn - 7/10 - Rewatch and I still to this day enjoy this movie. A great 80's King movie.

THe Collection - 4/10 - awful, just awful, but still enjoyed watching it for the laughs that it (unintentionally) provided.

Blue Jasmine 8.5/10

Really, really depressing. Louis CK had a few funny moments though.

I have... tinted windows

The Place Beyond the Pines 9/10

Great film. Shows how evident mannerisms and similarities are in the next generation, despite how much
the father/mother knew their child
. Great score and acting as well. Sad.

MUD 8/10

Good film. The acting is spectacular.
