I have perused the ole necronomicon before, but never bought one. I do have the Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard though. Pretty interesting stuff. There is actually a lot of practical knowledge in it for being a kids book.
 
Read Tipping Point and Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Carlos Castaneda one of my favourite authors.

Filmwise: Bambi and Godzilla by David Mamet.
