What books are on your shelf?

Are you a saxophonist?

Just started reading Sebastian Faulks' A Week In December… nice change from political theory books and journal articles. As a paid-up member of the Facebook generation I can't say the Kindle et al are very appealing - I like having books, lending them to other people, reading them in humid, dusty and slightly dodgy places, and the way they never run out of battery power is amazing.

Or an ARTHUR Fan?

My shelves are currently very bare. I lost over 800 books in "The Great Studio Flood of April '07". Lots of sci-fi with healthy doses of the classics, music & audio technical books, religion, philosophy, the sciences, etc. I also lost over 1,000 LPs and 25 years of touring recordings and memorabilia, not to mention the $100k in damages to my studio.

There were four more sets of shelves to the left of the two in the picture. Yeah, the books stayed on the shelves, but they'd soaked in sewage for 12+ hours and were unsalvageable.

I am really sorry to hear that. :(

Vince.. I want to borrow that book on Procrastination... sometime..whenever, maybe next year or the year after.. no rush. do I really need to even read it ? lol great collection !

I haven't gotten around to finish reading it yet. Go figure. I keep picking up the book next to it instead when I should be picking up my laptop and writing.

My shelf? lol Some pretty wide ranging stuff:

Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Redwall series, The Hobbit, Moby Dick, Watership Down, The Sandman collection(Graphic Novel), The Complete Calvin and Hobbes (3 Vol set-every strip he published), a few Peanuts collections, Enders Game to name a few :D

My god, VP Turner, what is the story behind that photograph??? Wow!

(We have many of the same books, btw)

Well, I wish there were a face-to-face story to go with it. It's my dream to meet every one of them and pick their brains.

I found it in a specialty memorabilia store in Toronto, Canada. Had it museum quality framed when I got it back to the States. Definitely my pride and joy. I've never seen a photo with all four of them together let alone one with all of their autographs. And it's authenticated. I was shocked and elated when I saw it.

Elements of Style for Screenwriters by Paul Argentini
Fast Times at Ridgemont High by Cameron Crowe - Cost me $250, but it's cheaper now.
The Writers Journey by Christopher E. Vogler
and of course the greatest filmmaking book ever written
Rebel without a Deal by Vince Rocca
