Knightly's New Toy!

Taxes came... we paid a bunch of bills and awarded ourselves with a new toy.

Here's a frame from "An Idiot Abroad" on the newest addition to my home theatre. My DVD/VHS collection are on the right and the two bright spots at the bottom of the frame are the IR lights at the corners of the Wii sensor bar.

The resulting image measures 90" x 51" (103.5" diagonal) and makes Wii bowling EXTREMELY interactive! This is golf the other night with my son :)

Next I build the screen for it so it looks even better!

Thats is really cool and im a bit jealous! But in a good way! Err, jealous happily for you!

But Wii Golf, cmon! Play Wii tennis or something! Hehehe. Btw, im the unofficial Wii tennis champion of Spain. Now that im in the states, new challengers are welcome ;)

Direct TV (HD)
Blu-ray (yes, I bought one, and I've previously said I'm not sold on them yet, but hey, it's got a shiny new HDMI connection and optical surround over TOSLINK to my big 5.1 system  )

I have a HUGE projector screen from a large auditorium classroom that I got for free (the rolly bit broke)... I'm going to frame it like a canvas on 2x2s and mount it on the wall :)

I'd highly suggest building an outer frame around the screen wrapped in black velveteen cloth. Surrounding the image in black enhances the perceived contrast of the image. The reason I suggest the cloth is that a black painted frame will still reflect light, whereas the cloth absorbs it.

Good call, thank you :)

and Papertwin, I'd been introduced to him on Ricky Gervais' podcasts before this show and thought he was marvelously brilliant. He seems wonderfully unencumbered by his "shut up filter".

The transparent fish bit in Peru got rewound a couple of times. "They're so transparent even they don't know they exist... I'd point them out to you, but you can't see them."
