Hey, all

My name's Casey, was referred here by a good friend. Attending film school in New York while I dream of lofty ambitions; for now I'm just trying to write about whatever ideas come to mind, crew whatever opportunities I get, and figure out where my interests lie (everything just fascinates me so much, I'm going for the stereotypical writing/directing, but I just love being on set in any shape or form, and wouldn't count producing out either). Not really sure what else to say, but I'm excited to be part of this community! Cheers

I'm attending NYU's tisch film program. Worked hard to get here, and I'm going to be incredibly broke as a result, but I'm enjoying every minute of it.

I'm sure that you're slammed for time at this point, but there are a few good meet 'n' greets I hit when my studio isn't booked. They are worth your while - I've winnowed through all the crap and these are the good ones that were left. PM me and we could meet at one after the Holidays.

Here's my standard newb greeting...

Welcome Grasshopper!

I'm one of the audio guys here.

Always remember:

"Young man, how is it that you do not?"

Good question, polfilmblog. Coming from someone who barely knew anything about cameras or lenses before getting here, it's really gotten me comfortable working with equipment (I had tried over and over again to read about things like lenses and lighting, and just absolutely wasn't understanding it until I finally got some hands-on experience). It's not so much booklearning (we focus a lot on shot composition, mise en scene, storytelling, and theory) as it is the access to equipment, making tons of connections, getting opportunities to work on sets and internships, and being in one of the best cities for film. I was reluctant to say I go to NYU, because I worry that there's an assumption there among most people that we're snooty and uppity, which I don't intend to come off as.
