By filmmakers, for filmmakers since 2003

Hello, From England.

Hey, I'm George, 16 from England. I love films and would love to become a regular filmmaker, even if not many people watch (2 people is good enough for me aslong as they like them). Perhaps my biggest obstacle would be casting, for my first (and so far only) short film I used one of my best friends, and she took a lot of convincing, plus there is no dialogue so it didn't require her to be a great actor. Another problem is that of script/ narrative, I can't write dialogue and so far have only thought of two stories so I'm not exactly an adequate writer, I have a friend who would like to be a screenwriter so I try to encourage him, not that it really works.

If you have read all of that thank you, and please check out my (very) short film in the screening room area and let me know what you think.

Thanks,
George.

Hey George!

I'm a fellow Englander (pretty late, huh?) and there are plenty of us on here (check out the British Fillmmakers) thread.

It's actually extraordinarily easy to cast films once you get over the hump of not being some big time filmmaker. If you've got a camera, a microphone and a computer there are plenty of jobbing actors who'll work for free on your films in order to get experience and showreel material...

Oh Yeah! Only just seen the time, the internet is wonderful to get lost in. Yeah I'll be checking it out, just so long as I don't get intimidated by the much better filmmakers then me.

The only issue is finding those actors. Perhaps I should start loittering around the drama studio at college.

Hey George,

Where abouts are you in England? Might want to film something together sometime?
I am planning on shooting a feature in summer, so I'd require all help i can get ;)
I am from greater London, so it would be great if you were in that area too..

Well anyways, welcome to indietalk!!! (class forum here)

I Sky+ed the series but haven't watched it yet. Should I?

YES! YES YOU SHOULD! I got the DVD for my code-free player as soon as it was released and I've watched it five times since (the whole series is only three hours long). I think it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I love the actors, especially Philip Glenister and Mark Warren. The story is out of this world. Photography was great. And I hear Mad Dogs 2 starts shooting this summer.

I'm from Southampton. I'd love to work together but I'm not very experienced but I'm willing to help out, I'm only 16 at the moment though (although I'll be 17 in just over a week) so that may be a problem for you. Let me know if there is anything I can help out with.

Don't worry with your age. It has nothing to do with age. I am only 16 as well, so that would fit ;)

Welcome Grasshopper!
