Harry Potter 8

So that you can relive the experience (and see my photos) I have posted my Twitter feed from this afternoon. Dready this will make you want to use Twitter :D Apologies for mild cursing. Also it's in reverse, so it make me more sense backwards.

Very cool. Dig the Zelig reference.

That's how those things always are, though. You spend a lot of time looking at the back of ordinary folks' heads.

But didn't you get to see the movie?

No, I did not. :(

Don't cry for me too much though because I have one of the extremely coveted tickets for the BFI IMAX's midnight screening!

I get to watch from inside... the thunderdome...

Hahaha, I'm just a book purist, there's no two ways about it. I'm going to the 12:07am screening tonight. CANNOT WAIT!!!!

And we will expect your cranky, book purist review as SOON as the film is done! And I'll do a cranky nit-picky review of the Hobbit once it comes out! Fun times! (and as much as I nitpicked LOTR, I do love and rewatch the movies. To be fair, the extended editions did course correct some of the Faramir character-derailing, so in the end, all is well...)

I've watched the first two, and that was enough for me-I've read all the books-I might watch the one that has the big "revelation" scene between Harry and Dumbledore in Dumbledore's office, where he find out EXACTLY is going on in his life-probably one of the more powerful scenes I've read in any book-I just am a little nervous that this very intense scene was dumbed down for audiences, it's why I've been hesitant.

Do you mean the fifth one (Order of the Phoenix) because that scene in the book is almost totally removed from the film...

Or do you mean the 7th book with the Pensieve?

Anyhow I think I'm going to go to the cinema this evening to see Order of the Phoenix again :)

Order of the Phoenix-SIGH, just as well I didn't watch it, as I would have been TOTALLY ticked at it's removal-for me quite possibly one of the most important scenes in the series (besides book 7)

Thanks Nick :) You save me some time! ;)

You should at least watch the third movie. Really captures the "storybook" feel the first two movies missed. Absolutely beautiful movie; some design work done by Dave McKean (DAVE MCKEAN!!!!!). And some wonderful whimsy with the Whomping Willow (*whacks self on hand for alliteration abuse*) Alfonso Cuaron did a great job with that one, and if you can get past the "not the same as the book"-ness of it and take it on its own merits, it's a really good movie.

...of course, I didn't start enjoying the series until the third book/movie, so I might be biased...
