Dramaturgist & Philosopher with an unusual view on things...

I am looking for people who want to discuss the concept of an intellectual porn movie.

Vaguely along those lines, you may want to check out "Johnny Montana," about an aimless kid who becomes a "call boy."

It was the first feature on which I did audio post; my work is only fair, but the film did well on the Festival Circuit, winning Moondance Best Feature and another win in Australia.

Thank you for your response and the suggestion. Will have a look at it! And a very nice start of your film music composing career!

...a very nice start of your film music composing career!

I'm not a composer. I could never write songs or compose - even though I tried really hard. It just wasn't there, just as I don't have the "It" factor that makes a star/front-man. As a musician I was a very good keyboard player and singer (back-up, didn't have a solo voice), and had a way with arranging and whipping a band or performer(s) into shape, stage or studio. So my career was as the musical director who ran the back-up band for the front people.

As recording engineer I enhanced the work of others, translating their ideas into a cohesive - and hopefully salable - product (song/album).

I now do audio post - dialog editing, Foley, sound effects, music editing and final mix.

Experimental composer John Cage called music "The organization of sound." His 4:33 (four minutes and 33 seconds) is the musician(s) sitting silent for that period of time, motionless. Since a specific time frame (4:33) has been placed around the sounds of the audience - breathing, shifting in their seats, ruffling their programs, whispering, etc. - the imposed structure makes this event music, even if is random sounds.

So that's what I do, I organize sound.

Cage is a very interesting guy.

Here's one of his performances.

And here's a good introduction to the man.

Thank you and I apologise for reading and interpreting your profession wrongly.
Then I mistaken John Cage for John Cale, thinking of the album Church of Anthrax with Terry Riley, although the latter worked with John Cage (I found out). Haven't watched the introduction about John Cage yet. And I saw that Zappa (me - big fan) worked with him. So another shame on me.

You must have 360 degree audio experience the whole time, which I can imagine is sometimes a magical forrest, sometimes a curse;)

One of the best from the black mountain collage. He was a big influence on the work of Steve Reich and also on the the Noise scene.

I think that you meant "college." 😉 That's okay, I don't even know enough Dutch to get my face slapped. :D

My introduction to Cage led me to Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, Morton Subotnick and others from the early/mid 20th century experimental composition movement.

John Lennon and John Cage were good friends. Cage's influence and the Musique Concréte movement are all over the Beatles "White Album," especially, "Revolution 9," reminiscent of Cage's and Reich's tape experiments. This kind of stuff was really big with the psychedelic acid dropping crowd in the 60's when they discovered Reich, Cage, et. al. through Lennon and the Beatles.

Here's a Reich piece that fascinated me.

His later compositions are much more "accessible."

-----------------

My "best" personal musical compositions lean much more in this direction - sonic tone poems and soundscapes. I think that's what led me to audio post/sound design. I just love playing with sounds.

Here's two examples of my tone poem soundscapes under my Shadow Factor persona. You can probably hear the Cage/Reich/Glass/Subotnick influences.

Dramaturgy and philosophy, a good combination. Interested (and slightly confused) in your concept for a intellectual porn movie.
yes. and my specialisation is artificial super intelligence;) perfect recipe to create any reality you want🙃
I am not sure if intellectual is the right word. Apparently pornography comes from the word prostitution. I just wanted to check if maybe the word is connected to the explicitness of the sexual act. It is not. Anyway, the idea I am talking about is the visualisation of emotions and the sexual act of 6 different couples in a motel. I am not sure if the goal is to turn people on, it's just a visual extension of the contact between people.

I also had another idea and that is to apply the sexual life of naked mole rats to humans. But then it would be more of an absurdist porn movie. Don't know if there is a market for that 🤷‍♀️

Interesting how his work can influence music and sound in such different directions. Philip and Steve are also a big influence on my music. My new score/album will have more Philip in it.
