Hi.
For a while now, i've been interested in film. But, over the last couple of years, i've been busy with school and dealing with a new environment/place (went from fresno to san francisco for school). not being socially competent, i was unable to take advantage of the richness that san francisco offered to the indie community, although i did volunteer for their international film festival. nevertheless, san francisco offered a rich film community, such as the landmark theaters, the roxie, castro, etc. in addition, the city had a lot of youth media programs dealing with social justice. now, i'm done with school (sociology) and back home, a place that has very little to offer in terms as film community and to youth. i joined this forum in an attempt to gain a lot of basic information regarding: film editing, production, writing, etc. ideally, i'd like to apply film, sociology, and social justice in creating a media youth group dedicated to informing the community about relevant issues. i do not expect this forum to give me all the answers, but instead, i hope this forum can provide a space where new ideas can be exchanged, implemented and (re)created. thank you.
