FOR ME (whatever) it depends upon how motivated I am to go investigating something.

I scan "Title, Username, & Date" column for replies to statements & questions or to follow good subjects or interesting arguments (sad, but entertaining).
I seem to be spending a great deal of interest in "Camera and Lenses" forum so I scan that column as well.
Occasionally I'll even click on that forum and just see whassup there that I mighta missed:
