movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Looper, which will have people drawing out time continuum lines on napkins after they see it and try to figure it all out. Good film, 7/10. Frankenweenie, which felt kinda stretched to fill a feature, still fun and dark. Not sure who the audience is. Damn sight better than Dark Shadows. 6/10...

    Podcast update

Hey, Everyone - Just a quick brag and push - the brag being for my daily podcast "Independent Thinking" which was recently nominated for "Best Podcast" in LA Weekly's Web Awards 2012. The push is also for "Independent Thinking" - I have an Indiegogo project up, trying to raise some extra...

    Time-lapse green screen?

You can do it in either order, I guess. You're basically creating a video background out of multiple still images or film. You'll shoot your friend playing in front of a green screen before or after creating that footage, then key out the green screen and substitute your video. Does that...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Saw "The Amazing Spiderman" - well, most of it. Power grid went down and I didn't get to see the last 8 minutes, which apparently sets up the sequel. Have to check, but I don't think I can comment on it yet, due to a studio embargo. But, I can safely say, it is definitely a Spiderman movie...

    ideas/help with 20 second sketch

You could just show the Dad, framed against the full moon, gun in hand, saying "Please, Son. We can work this out." Then cut to the werewolf, snarling, making a move, then the gunshot. Might be do-able in 25 seconds and still get the main points of this scene idea in. gelder

    Awesome editing contest.

For professional editing jobs, which they're treating this as, every second counts. So, I would anticipate that if you submit anything that is not 25 seconds, you will be wasting your time, and they will not consider it. gelder

    PROMETHEUS Ridley Scott prequel

For those of you asking why - here's something from the near future, 2023. Some of the stories young Mr. Weyland recounts may be familiar to those who have just seen the film... http://youtu.be/S7YK2uKxil8 gelder

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Didn't care for Dark Shadows. An interesting look and idea, but, as with many of the recent Burton/Depp outings, no real substance to the story. gelder

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

That's just a guess. This in no way, shape or form, should be construed by the good people at 20th Century Fox as my review of the film. Mathematically, I could hate the visuals, follow the logic like a rabid bloodhound, love the direction and be completely unmoved by the script, and still...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Dunno. My girlfriend is a movie critic, so we went to the screening, but we're under embargo not to talk about it. Don't want to put her job in jeopardy, so I don't try to apply logic to studio requests... ;) gelder

    Kickstarter and Indiegogo

Thanks, finderskeepers - we had some delays mounting the play (the original theatre didn't work and other spaces were booked) but the play will finally go up the end of August at the Lillian. Yeah, the clips were solid, and we have a second project possibly ready to go, with original footage...

Reboot to the Prologue to my film

The explosion/disembodied flames that follow the rocket ship that leaves Earth near the beginning throws me. At first, I justify it as an explosion on the planet's surface, then it moves off the planet, so it must be something to do with the ship, then it goes away. It feels off each time I see...
