    Exporting for Flash?

Solved it. It's best to just encode into an F4V with h.264 and use that in the flash. I found it best to take the video and encode it at 480p resolution (it still retains all the sharpness of the 1080p). I'd be willing to wager when youtube takes the 720p or 1080p high definition file, when it...

    Exporting for Flash?

Well, I can encode great for youtube, h.264. Flash CS4 is touting that it has native support for h.264 mp4 files, but when I embed an mp4 file in my flash video, it just makes the audio sound horrible (the video is okay though). I was just curious what the deal with that is, because encoding...

    Exporting for Flash?

I export my videos using the h.264 codec in mp4 format. When I upload them to vimeo or youtube, they are great quality, perfect crisp audio. But when I try to import my mp4 file into Flash CS4 to make a flash movie to embed on my personal site, the audio quality turns crappy. The video itself...

watch On The Run, Prelude One

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X6fGmhxRjo&fmt=22 First prelude of a web series I'm writing. Meant to be short and to help introduce the series. I know the credits run long, but that's only because I put footage within it. :) Looking for feedback especially on the lighting. Thanks guys, hope...

    Shooting a night fight scene

Hey guys, long time no see. Been so busy with school/filming haven't had a chance to hop on boards much. Relating to filming, I ran into an issue. I recently shot an outdoor fight scene at night using about 2000 watts of light. Of course, it wasn't enough I figured out once I got out there and...

Question about Timecode on a field recorder

The field recorder I'm looking at getting is a Tascam HD-P2, listed here: http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-TAS-HDP2-LIST It says, under specs: "Time Code Types: 23.976,24,25,29,29.97 DF/NDF, 30 DF/NDF " Now, I'm not really up to speed (no pun intended) on timecode. If I hit record and...

    Lighting question, exposure levels

Yes it has an aperature ring, so I control the f/stop manually. Knightly, do you mean put the zebra down fo 85% for light skinned, light them and when they start blowing out on the skin at 85, back it down just a tad, then I'm good to go?

    Lighting question, exposure levels

I'm using an XH-A1s, and it has zebra settings inside. Now, what I'm mainly looking for is so I don't overexpose something to the point where it's so white I can't even see what's happening, like a completely blown highlight. What zebra IRE should I have it set to for that, any suggestions...

    Under age?

If you're old enough to pick up a camcorder, hit record, and point it at people doing things, you're old enough to be a filmmaker. :) Don't let thinking you're too young stop you!

    Gamma Curve

From my personal experience, the gamma curve on video is pretty flat. Otherwise, it wouldn't need a correction in the first place. :)

    Feedback on a trailer, please

Hey! I haven't been active on the forums in some weeks here, been VERY busy with my family, and setting up some new equipment and filming things. Wasn't sure where to post this, so threw it up in the lobby. Indie, if you could drag this to whatever forum is most appropriate I'd appreciate it...

2.40:1 Aspect crop in Premiere Pro CS4

The Crop effect in Premiere Pro CS4 let's you crop image top and bottom by a percent. Does anyone know what percent would constitute a 2.40:1 aspect ratio, if my source video is 1440x1080? I basically want the video cropped to 2.40:1. Thanks guys.

becoming a filmmaker: 1st step after high school

To directly answer your title, the first step to becoming a filmmaker is to pick up the closest camera to you and start shooting films. :)

Buying a camera and audio equipment

You could pick up an XH-A1 (non S version) for 2999.99, then spend the rest of the money on lavalier mics. You could pick it all up at B&H photo.

    Welcome to Sound Advice

Timecode is handy, but not necessary. All audio can be synced without it. I, nor anyone I know have ever used a timecode on any projects and never had an issue, and we record audio seperately from video. Like I said, my field recorder is an Edirol R-44, and it's only 900 bucks, GREAT piece of...
