campaign The Unknown Warrior

Here is a film I would consider an "adult" film: http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/An_American_Werewolf_in_London.html

But, maybe you just aren't into that kind of filmmaking, and that's fine.
That scene you are describing isn't a real "scene". It describes an entire film. That's called a synopsis or logline.

Your film's theme isn't exciting enough. It is too basic. I see a ninja, a werewolf. Sounds like the film Underworld mixed with 300.

Cool. Get it done.

Your profile says you've been doing this for the last 10+ years. Do you have previous work to share?

What makes it not a scene ? Granted there are things that happen just before that in the entire scene. But that fight lasts 2 minutes. How is is not a scene ? And i have seen that movie. I still dont understand what you mean when you say “adult oriented.” Like rated R?

The entire film is actually about how the ninja has to live in a world without the only thing he became immortal for in the first place. Then when that conflict comes back; he is conflicted within himself. Does he save humanity from these resurrected monsters or does he let the monsters loose on the monsters that is people ?

By adult, I mean the film targets an adult audience. The scenes you are describing seem catered to a younger audience. People who think blood is "rad", and gore is the only reason to watch.

Do you have previous work to share?

Benefit of the doubt, your profile said you have 10+ years of experience doing animation and film as a hobby.
The way you presented yourself doesn't reflect that, at all.

I think showing some of your previous 10+ years of experience may help people have faith you know what you are doing. Try that out, and maybe you could get something out of all this.

I mean, with how much actual content you have for this, you could just make a 5 minute youtube video of a fight scene, and get away with that. Why ask $10,000 for that? Why not just focus on getting followers first?

Its probably not your type of thing. Im just playing with my sword. Its my martial arts ability thats going to make this movie what it is.

Disregard the video. I made the music and this is my first couple production notes i ever made. I created it on Blender. It takes some talent to learn blender on your own.

I have learned a lot about film and editing in the past 10 years just being interested. My partner is a musician and he has won awards for screenwriting.

I was just curious how kickstarter worked man. I have seen some really stupid stuff raise a lot more money than only 10k. You cant know unless you try. Ive learned a lot just because i made a kickstarter. I wouldnt take it back for a second.

We were asking for 10k for the entire first part. For props, gear and costume stuff. I thought i was actually being reasonable with the dumb stuff raising 100’s of thousands of dollars i have seen on kickstarter.

We are going to make the first scene without the 10k. Its not like we are relying on this kickstarter. Not even a little bit.

We plan on making a badass scene and putting it out there to do just that.

So...................

You just admitted you don't need the money, and you only wanted it because you have seen people give money to "really stupid stuff," so, you wanted some of it. But don't need it. "Not even a little bit."

Okay. Gotcha man.

You should add that to the kickstarter page

No. We need the money for the entire first part for props, gear and costume stuff. I only mentioned about seeing stupid stuff raise more money.

We dont need the money for the first scene. We arent asking for money for the first scene. We never did.

Way to construe what i said though.

We are not relying on it for the first scene. Not even a little bit. For the first scene. We are asking for support for the entire first part

I'd love to know your story. You have some badass scenes. But you
haven't really told us the story you want to tell.

Before you ask for money you should have a story. You haven't told us the story yet. Not the shinobi, and he is immortal, and fights monsters. What is the actual story?

hitting water bottles in slow motion does nothing to impress me tbh
i have no idea what your athletic abilities are when youre moving in slow motion. some action movies are filmed that way but i dont enjoy slow motion action scenes. slow motion is for the drama imo

You definitely got the skills to be in a cool action film. Just not the knowhow or the ability to market said film. Let someone else handle the Production/Marketing for it. Focus your effort on choreography and the fighting scenes. Let other more talented filmmakers handle the rest, and you might have something worth what you are asking for.

Some nice skills there Same_HA.

I look forward to seeing the first scene. When you get that finished and have an
actual story and can let people know how you will spend the money I might donate.

In the beginning: this is really part 2
An elite unit is established to defeat “dracula’s” army. The captain (the ninja) finds out about the warlock’s scheme and betrays them. He finds the tablet that will allow the warlocks to reanimate the army (not as ghosts) and hides it from them. He then leaves the battlefield, goes into the woods and summons the vampire. (Who has been weakened from a fight with a warlock) the ninja knows he will be weak. He set the fight up between the warlock and vampire. He takes the heart of the vampire and becomes immortal so that he can kill the army himself and protect the tablet. The vampire actually wants him to take his life because he will then be off the radar (in hell) from the warlocks. He has a larger scheme. The warlocks also have a larger plan than just bringing the army back. The army needs a general. So they wait for him. The vampire is the only one who knows about the general they are waiting for. Thats why they want the vampire dead.

The middle: this is actually part 1
It begins where the second part ends. In the woods where the ninja summons the vampire. There is some dialogue and the ninja takes the vampires heart. We open after the credit scene to a truck sitting in the rain in modern day. The ninja is in the truck (but you wont know it is him yet) he is staking a location out on an investigation (because he is a private investigator now). It appears this private investigator has no moral compass after what happens next. He takes his pictures and hands them off to a big CEO. We come to find out that the guy he was watching was a snitch. The CEO was a criminal. The guy he was investigating for the CEO turns up dead the next day. It doesnt phase him. He then takes another case. Its a missing girl. He finds her and ends up not saving her. He finds her strapped to a bench in an old warehouse. She isnt alone. There are people there and they are obviously going to sacrifice her. He notices the tablet (which we wont know anything about until part 2) and he hesitates. The girl is sacrificed. He goes down and murders everyone after that. He was too late though. The ritual was completed. He then takes the girl to the doorsteps of her parents. They open the door, her mom drops to her knees and he hands the girl to her father who starts to sob also. The ninja just turns and walks away. (You will learn a lot about the ninja and what type of person he is in the first half of the first part). It isnt going to be a hack and slash film like some of you assume. He doesnt care about other people anymore. In a way; he only longs for war. (Not a human war though.)
One night; he is on an investigation and hears a scream. He goes to it and finds another private investigator (the comic relief) mutilated in an alley. That is when he encounters his first werewolf. That is when you see joy in his face for the first time in the film. From then on; werewolves are running through this small town like rabid dogs. These arent going to be your typical werewolves. They are going to be resurrected straight from hell. Zombie werewolves if you want. They arent going to be limited by the moonlight. Just rabid beasts.
By the end of the first part; he will loose hope for humanity and turn his back on them. There is a scene where he is about to cut a werewolves throat and sees ahead of him a man in an alley rob and stab a woman. He looks down at the snarling wolf and looks back up at the man running away. He unleashes the wolf on the man and lets him tear him to pieces. He goes into solitude for a minute until one day. A blood soaked puppy comes into his cabin where he is meditating. It starts to nuzzle up against him. The puppy doesnt know the trouble he is in. He represents pure innocence. After a minute of this puppy nuzzling and laying down with his head propped on the ninjas leg; the ninja opens his eyes and we see him understand exactly what he should be protecting. Innocence. there is a figure outside the window. Its the wolf who smells the puppy. He comes in and this is the first time the ninja doesnt have joy in his face while he kills a wolf. He steps off the wolf and runs back into the city. He stops short of a cliff overlooking a city in ruins. Screams now replace the sounds of cars and the city scape. He jumps off the cliff. There is a family being surrounded by five wolves, next to a car. He sees them in the distance when he lands. He begins by walking and picking up makeshift weapons from the carnage. He picks up speed. Now hes at full sprint. Within a couple seconds, he kills these five wolves. He looks back at the family with their children. It is the first time we see rage in his face. He runs into the city and begins killing wolves.
At the end; the camera cuts to a rooftop overlooking him destroying the wolves. A mans voice says “that was unforseen.” There are three men standing at the top of the building in suits. They turn, create a portal and walk through. They were warlocks who orchestrated the event.

The end: part three
Opens where the first part ends. We now go into hell where the vampire has been planning an escape this entire time. The warlocks think hes dead but he has had a plan this whole time. We learn more about the warlock’s plans and we meet the general they have been waiting for. The werewolves are still part of society and we find out that they are just nuisances now. The ninja is no longer a private investigator. He has pretty much turned into a super hero. More fearsome beasts begin to emerge also.
The warlocks plan to give the majority of all of their combined powers to the general so that he can control this army about to arise. The werewolves were the weakest of them all. That is why they showed up first. The most powerful monsters wont come until the end.
The vampire plans to possess the general just before the warlocks give him their powers. He is going to be the main antagonist in part three. After they give the general their powers; he lets them know who he really is. Now he is the most powerful being and tears the warlocks to pieces. He doesnt make himself known to humanity yet. He wants to see an old friend first. The ninja gets “snuck” up on one night. Just a man in a suit. He talks like someone familiar though. He gives the ninja a proposition. To become his general or to watch the world burn without being able to stop it. The ninja is going to refuse. So he finds a warlock who can help him. He finds a spell that can summon anyone from any time. He summons the warlock who gathered the unit together so many years ago. We find out; that is why this particular warlock was not present the entire second part. Its like he just disappears.
He tells him what the vampire has done and needs his help. Theres an epic battle scene between the warlock, the ninja, the vampire and monsters at the end of the third part. Spoiler alert. They all die in the end and everything is back to the way it should have been.

Wow! I take time out to do some work on my car and ...

I dont think you guys really understand what i am trying to do here.
Three days/three pages later ... nope, I don't really understand. You say you want to make an epic movie and your story outline describes hundreds of characters, but then you say you're planning to do it with just two actors - how can that work? You've laid out a three-part story that sounds like a gory version of Lord of the Rings, and you're looking for funding for Part One (which is actually Part Two) but only planning to shoot one scene; and you don't really want/need the money anyway. Huh? :weird:

What confuses me most, though is this:
There is one scene when the ninja meets the first werewolf in almost a century. Without a fight to challenge him for this long, he doesnt allow the werewolf to die fast. He enjoys it too much. Hes going to slice him up with his EDC knife for a couple minutes until the werewolf cant move anymore due to blood loss. There is going to be a lot of blood in that one scene alone.
On another thread, you mentioned that you have an interest in "folklore" and I suggested that you'd benefit from a trip to Europe to learn more about this subject. Now I think you're using the word "folklore" when you mean "fantasy". To me - an adult with an interest in folklore (and a son who does martial arts) - that sequence is all wrong.

Any "ruthless killer" would not keep his victim alive, and a Ninja above all others would have been indoctrinated with a deep respect for their foe. You are describing a sadist and a torturer, values that would be almost completely alien to a Ninja, even if he'd been "out of practice" for a couple of centuries. Then again, maybe this is the scene that brings the Ninja back into action? Did the werewolf sneak up on him? Is that why he had only a pocket knife handy, and made such a mess of things? If that is the case, then the quantity of blood is irrelevant: what matters is (should be) the Ninja realising that he might be immortal, but he's also old, tired and not up to the task any more and an adult movie would be about how he deals with that realisation.

From all that you've said, it really sounds like you should concentrate on writing the story - create the world, build up the individual characters, develop the narrative, even go so far as publishing that first, before trying to make a complete movie. Alternatively, if you really want to perfom in a role, leave the "epic" for now and write a different story that fits the time and resources you have available. I'm still trying to figure out, though, how two people can shoot a fight scene with two characters in it - who's behind the camera?

On that note, here's something that might help you plan that side of things:
