What's next? Big plans?

We'll see what happens with Crimps, if anything.

I owe my manager a script. He's stuck with me through the whole Crimps process and I haven't produced a damn thing for him to try and sell. Any other manager would probably have dumped my ass years ago; fortunately he's also a friend.

Beyond that, as I am now unemployed I'm looking for work -- may be shooting and/or lighting for another director's project. Also been playing a background cop off-and-on for the upcoming NBC series "Grimm". Pay is squat, but it's fun.

Sounds like people have some cool things coming up! And Gonzo, don't forget a once-in-a-while gig doesn't exempt your "retired" status ;-)

dlevanchuk, the perfect sandwich:

1. Spread mayo on a slice of light rye bread.
2. Top it, in order, with thin-sliced onions, 2 slices ham, 1 slice cheddar cheese, a slice of tomato, then with another slice of light rye.
3. Spread butter on the outside of both the upper and lower slices of bread.
4. Fry on a very low heat, turning once, until each side is golden brown.
5. Remove from heat, and slice diagonally (trust me, it tastes better, if sliced diagonally). :)

I agree that, while this sandwich does sound yummy, the topic is controversial indeed. Onions, but no greens? Fried? And most importantly, the bread...depending on the rye that can be okay. I've been spoiled to have a girlfriend who bakes fresh bread every two weeks. Usually something different, but she does some cheese breads that are absolutely to DIE for! I'd also contrast the ham with a slice of turkey and/or roast beef. But that's just me.

Or some roast Perfectly Normal Beast from the kitchen of chief sandwichmaker Arthur Dent :-D

My goals are ambitious:

Find a 3D animator / VFx artist for both IC2 and IC3.

Write a great script for IC3.

Shoot necessary pickup footage for IC2.

Complete all post for IC2.

Throw the screening party for IC2.

Create a story bible for a IC TV series.

Find an investor for and cable TV network for IC3.

Begin preproduction for IC3, including casting new and open roles.

Find a shooting location for IC3 that is affordable.

Begin shooting IC3 before the end of 2012.

I'd say that is ambitious.

- Continue working on my camerawork and learning my equipment and lenses better.

- Pop out a few just-me-doin'-it shorts. (Edit the one I have begun already).

- Possibly hassle a few friends for my first more-than-me shorts.

- I have committed myself to participate in an upcoming One Week Challenge to write a (likely horror) short of 8 to 12 pages.

- Expand on my 2010 Independent Film Distribution analysis.
http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?p=223901#post223901

- I have a hopper of 27 feature worthy premises I feel confident are indie fare (out of about fifty, many of which are either nascent or require Michael Bay-type budgets) that I need to have a professional contact review and get back to me with hopefully three that I should pursue banging out a 90-100 page screenplay for next year.

- Make a sandwich making video and submit to that other thread. :D

I'm waiting for a feature doc I acted as DP on, "Reverb Junkies", to come out of post. We have a decent "in" with a really cool festival here in southern California; that would put our premiere in April 2012, I think.

Like CHamburger, I am also growing a beard. It's for a short werewolf film I'm acting in mid-October that may be part of a web-series. I will shave it soon after that, although I will still have it for a shoot I'm doing in early October for an ABC show.

I just finished some industrial films for a company, and will probably write/edit some more for them, as they were happy with the series.

And, after working on a number of poorly-shot, ill-conceived projects for friends of mine who are working to put things together on a shoe-string, I decided to pull out one of my half-finished scripts and focus on getting my feature going. It's a horror film, with an interesting FX idea and style that will make it stand out from the crowd, I hope. I would imagine I could get it done for less, but I'd like to have a million or two to work with, to get some B-actor names on board and really make it look great. Pages are coming. Hope to finish the first draft by Halloween.

And just surviving in the big city. Without a perfect sandwich recipe.

gelder

EDIT: Oh, and pitching some shows. I have three show concepts that are currently under a shopping contract with a production company until January, and then the ideas come back to me. I have a few friends at production companies who are willing to take meetings on other shows I have ideas for, and I'm working with a couple of friends on a pitch reel. We're filming a sit-down interview tonight - can't believe I spaced that.

My big plans are the same plans as the old plans. :) Just keep doing as much as possible. Some things will happen, other things won't. Merry Moviemaking to all and to all a goodniiiiight!

I am looking for a job since I am unemployed currenty. Once I got job and am settled in I will start working on making more music. I am going to continue building up my home recording studio so I can record my music. Then i will mix and get the tracks mastered. I am going for a more analog master this time using external gear with tubes. I will write and record music tell I get an album worth of tracks. I hope to bring the quality up to par this time. It probably will be grunge and hard rock this time.

I have started writing a film about what happened in college and it will be a comedy. Still not sure when or if will get it done. Probably will be similar to American Pie.

I would like to get a newer camera and some lighting gear to make shorts with.

I am planning on getting AFX and video co pilot to play with too.

Less plans and more goals. In 2012 I want to score 2 features (and hopefully get paid on at least one of them). Getting together website, polish demo reel, learn (and do) some marketing, etc. I have some non-film music goals as well; I should be gigging on a regular basis once again early 2012 (forgot how much I missed that)

Josh,

I'm looking for somebody to score my feature length (The Legend of Cooley Moon) that just wrapped up filming this month. If you are interested, please shoot me a message!!

This is cool, everyone has big plans. I like it!

I plan to keep doing shorts (somewhat tailored to an online audience) where we're growing the Invision team and perfecting techniques. Currently we're working on getting as efficient as possible on set. We can do about 4-6 pages in a long day right now, I want to up that number THEN slow it down to where we're really focusing on technique. Gotta nail all the organizational stuff you know? The shorts we make will hopefully grow our online audience so when we do something big it'l already have a little wind under it's wings.

Then, we're doing something big :). Our main writer has been hammering away at a very shootable feature comedy. First draft should be finished any week now. One we're happy with it we'll start preproduction, fundraising and all that fun stuff. If it all goes according to plan, we'll shoot in Spring and have a festival cut in summer/fall.

While it's in post the rest of the production team will keep on with the shorts.

And that puts us about 12 months from now. Loving the future!

Some great projects here! I'm really looking forward to keeping an eye on them- I wish there was some way we could do a syndicated email update, maybe once a month, about Indietalkers' projects because it's going to be kinda tough for me to keep up with the forums on a regular basis.

As some will know (and others have only dreamed) my presence on IT is going to all but disappear from next week :( After TOO LONG spent bumming around doing little things like film school and working on shoots, I've finally succumbed to the temptation to attend University and I start on Monday. It's going to be pretty intense and I doubt that I'll have much time for the forums.

Because of my academic commitments I'm also going to have to put filmmaking on the back burner. I hope to encounter like minded people at uni who might be interested in getting involved in productions, but, realistically, the next window for me to shoot in will be the 2012 Summer holidays and, what with Euro 2012 and the Olympics, I might be a tad distracted :D

I'm still going to keep writing and developing my financial crisis faux documentary that I've been brewing for a while now, just in case the opportune moment presents itself. But, for the time being, reading books has to take precedence over making movies and answering harmonica44's questions.

You seem happy about it, Nick. There's a place for everyone, but man that seems really sad...

I've felt the pressure a few times... it would be heartbreaking to switch it up to something else.

Either way, have fun with what you're doing.

Who knows. Maybe your headmaster will return your dad's old invisibility cloak so you can sneak out of the ravenclaw common room at night and make movies.

Lumos! Expecto Rollingo! Actiono!

which one?

There's more than one?

I would be upset but I'm not making a life decision. This is a great opportunity for me and, if I want to be a (paid) writer there's no better place in the world for me to study.

I've got plenty of time (fingers crossed) so hopefully when I graduate in 3 years time I'll be ready to pursue my dreams with a tail wind (rather than pissing in the wind).

Plus, I'm not giving up on filmmaking, I'm just waiting to see how much time and enthusiasm I have. You never know, I might find that the itch gets stronger (that's what they say about college...) :)

Ravenclaw? :weird:
