What you use to grab footage

In the editing process what do you guys use for taking footage from your camera to the suite?

My fingers.

I grab the card from the slot on the camera and poke it in to the hole on the computer.

After that I run some programs and stuff

yeh but that hole is quite hard to locate wheat, you need to watch yourself there.

nope, i just jam it in the hole and drag it.

If it's that, I convert to ProRes 422 or LT using either Final Cut's Log and Transfer window or MPEG Streamclip. For bigger projects I might offline with ProRes Proxy, before onlining with 422 or LT.

Ah right, but what for miniDV?

for minDV I just connected up my firewire cable and used premiere to log and import footage. The scene detection always worked good for me.
