Such a relief...

I just want to say it's always such a relief coming back to this forum compared to the few others that I visit. The regular members are quite level headed, there are no real politics between certain users and a general friendly vibe always occurs amongst comments where usually I feel interested reading that I have no interest in whatsoever.

While there are the odd scuffles, they are much less often than other places and there is a decent level of respect in this community. And apart from a remarkable one or two, most members are actually intelligent here compared some other places.

Keep it up :)

group hug, everyone!

+3!

This is where I spend most of my time on the internet. Better than any forum or site I've ever been on.

I hope I'm one of those "intelligent and level headed members":lol:

You are right. The tone is almost always civil, and the crap like politics and flaming are virtually nonexistent - although beating up on Harmonica is a regular pass time.

Agree, too. I can think of a few reasons why that's probably true.

A. The owner and the mods are watchful. They're not absentee landlords. They quickly ban spammers and trolls. They run a pretty tight ship here, but it does help to keep it classy. And also, very pleasantly, regulars tend to be not much tolerant of them (trolls) ...and they often call them on it, too.

B. The strict rule on politics.

C. It can only help that most of the serious users on I.T. tend to use their real names, in full, or in part. I'm sure that's because there is the real possibility of and desire to actually work with some of the other users here (we all know that happens), to be professional, at least in behaviour and in work ethic, to demonstrate one's seriousness and said professionalism, and perhaps to stay on friendly terms with potential funders of one's projects. And that's not only in regard to other I.T. users; you never know who else might be lurking and observing. Huahhhhh? People exposing themselves online in that way and who hope to be accepted into the business really can't afford to behave like the usual sort of online bullies who hide behind their internet "anonymity."

In other words, for those who are serious or even just half-serious about this stuff, what good is behaving badly, making enemies, or burning bridges?

But like you said, other places... Sheesh. Well, infamously, YouTube, for one.

=)

I agree wholeheartedly! This forum is great and so are the people on it.

Except for that MileCreations guy.... he's a dick :P

I was part of an internet forum once where one of the members got busted in a child pornography ring. It freaked out everyone on there that had children, the guy was even taking pictures of kids off a church bulletin board or something super creepy.

after like 5 years he got out of prison and tried to rejoin our forum so we had to ban him. that forum closed down a few months ago finally

Yeah, I must say I agree. I have a couple other sites bookmarked but I don't visit them nearly as much as here. Nor have I learned as much from them as I do from just reading post by you guys.

Thanks for keeping everything, mostly, civil around here :)

+1 to the group!

This one I come to and spend time, any others (only a few), I let my computer tell me briefly through RSS feeds if it's worth going to or not...

I used to be the Dennis Rodman of this place (not intentionally). I think I've calmed down to more of a Metta World Peace status. ;)

I swear, it's only a matter of time before a member of this online community will break out big time, and a lot of credit will be due to those who've supported them here. There's a small handful of IT members I'm keeping my eyes on, whom I believe have very bright futures. :D

I've not even posted any of my AV work yet, and yet there you are every night peering through my windows. I'm starting to wonder if your not actually there to steal my ideas after all, and have other more nefarious intentions... :hmm:

All of the above, brah! I'll steal your logline, AND the newspaper off your front porch, and I'll feel no remorse! :grrr:

Dammit, you said those two words. Now I've got Metallica tunes stuck in my head...

Speaking of which, I was chatting to one of my mates the other day about the long term effects of watching The Simpsons. There are some words/phrases that are so ingrained that every time we hear them it triggers off sporadic bursts of singing.

'Vest' and 'Monorail' are two words I particularly dread hearing. I WILL be singing those bloody songs all day long. :D

...Oh crap. It's started...
