Start of my kit.

Okay, guys and gals, here I present to you the beginnings of my movie making kit. I am starting from nothing, so before you ask about other equipment understand I don't have any.:) Yes Alcove I will be buying a sound kit as well. I have your affordable list bookmarked. ;)

What I want is a basic camera setup. So if you would look over these things. If you have experience with them or can recommend something you feel is better, in the same price range, please let me know.

Also, I haven't decided on a lens yet. I have a kit lense I can start with, but suggetions welcome there also.

Any input welcome....except you Harmonica.:)

Just so you know, the T2i will only give you SD (ext) monitoring when recording, so the follow focus won't do you much good.

Unfortunately it only monitors in (ext) HD while you're setting up the shot. Also, you won't be able to see that monitor outdoors in strong sunlight unless you put it in a deep box or have a blanket or something.

I have a T2i and have learned some lessons.

I've seen the ikan monitors in person, and not really worth the price. If that's your monitor budget, save a bit and go with a Lilliput. If you can spend more, look at the lower end Marshalls.

Also, have you considered a used t2i? If it's in ok shale with no dead pixels then you'll probably be just fine.

This is all exciting man! Congrats.

Thanks man. I would prefer to buy one new. Just to know what I'm getting. I have been looking at used lenses though. Now that I reread that it doesn't make sense, I could get jipped on a lense too I guess. My flawed logic is that I could see something wrong with the lense.:)

Thanks for the heads up about the monitor.

Does no one(one word??) have any info on the matte box??

The ProAim gear is generally okay for the money, but often not particularly long-lasting or solidly built. I'd probably skip the follow focus and monitor and buy some nice glass instead, as well as a second-hand matte box - there're regularly great deals on eBay for "name" gear.

Good news.:)
