Star Trek Into Darkness

Saw the 9 minutes preview/scene before The Hobbit and oh man, May cannot come soon enough!

Not sure it really worked in 3D, the handheld camera movements just disoriented me completely.

Yeah, darn, apparently it wasn't shot in 3D, according to Ryan Connolly in the video below. Maybe that's why it looks sketchy to you. That's disappointing, since 2D conversion is less desirable, huh. Oh well. But Ryan Connolly is always a lot of fun, and he's really enthusiastic about it too.

Yeah, it's all shot on 35mm with select scenes in 65mm IMAX, which is cool and boy did it look great. Just a shame they feel they have to 3D convert to get the masses coming.

I think it's cool that they consider the comics for this series canon. They used both Mitchell and Khan in those.

Since the villain's name is supposedly "John Harrison" is it fair to call this movie "Star Trek: Wrath of John!"

They're looking less and less like Star Trek but it does look like a fun movie, none-the-less.

Agree.

Star Trek used to have a deeper meaning and message behind it but now it's more about theatrics. Roddenberry would not be pleased.

But, as an independent fun blockbuster, I can enjoy it.

Shinzon and Bane have MANY similarities... some lines are even similar

Shinzon has, essentially, Talia's backstory where Ron Perlman's "Viceroy" is to Shinzon as Bane is to Talia. Actually watched Nemesis for the first time recently, somehow I missed it. Thought it was much better than its reputation. Also, anything with Ron Perlman is worth watching. :D

She's coming up soon, Sir. Twelve days...

Edit:

Oh, this may be even more rousing...

Does it show too much? I don't know. It does its job.
