Can you confirm that this is done by an actual person and NOT AI?

AI = GIGO
Garbage in, garbage out

You're not getting a lot of love from the writers here.

$75 to have AI provide insights on my characters. Over 10 pages of notes.
And if I'm interested in making my dialogue more natural, your AI program
can do that. For another $75.
And then another $75 for the AI program to analyze if my scenes flow from
one to another.

Just those things and I'm in $225. And this AI program even suggest improvements.

How was this AI trained?

We don't expect you to do more than one element on your script. That's the whole purpose of this service. We want to focus on one area and improve it immensely. We understand that this isn't for everyone. But, if you are struggling in one area, we can help. Whether it be...characters, dialogue, pacing, plot or any other area, we coded it perfectly to do just that. So, yes, we're saying pick one element and let us do our work.

Sincerely.

An important thing to understand is that all of these "AI Companies" are making API calls to ChatGPT or similar service.
They haven't developed their own AI, they're essentially middle men between you and chatGPT.

That doesn't mean they are without value - the pro teir for chatGPT costs $200/month, so you would need to pay money one way or another to access that level of computation.

That all changed a couple days ago.
China released an AI called Deep Seek, it rivals the $200/month chatGPT subscription but its FREE

It's so significant that it made nvidia stock tumble nearly 600 BILLION dollars in one day.
China opened sourced the AI, it's pretty cool, and the app I installed on my phone works for free.

And let's remember that they all suck in YOUR script and then use that as input for the next person who says "good morning AI! Give me a good idea for a new script!"

So no. Just no.

I'd want to see several properly worked-out examples of that before parting with any money, because no one element of a script can be improved "immensely" without having an impact on the other aspects.

Straight off, I can think of a situation where a reasonable improvement (especially for a low-budget production) would be to combine two or three characters into one. That will immediately have implications for the dialogue, either because the three-in-one character is now talking to themselves too often, or because certain things become known to another character in a way that spoils the plot, or because the backrounds of the previously individual characters demand changes to the skills or knowlege or accent or vocabulary of the new "fused" one. Once those matters have been resolved, the plot and/or the pacing will need to be adjusted.

How does the service handle this kind of challenge?

Exactly why you email them the script, and they do not show a public interface. They use an available AI and make human tweaks.

If their AI is doing all this they would have an interface you could try out. Instead you "send them" your script and they mess around with it in available AIs for a few hours, things you can do yourself. Send script, receive in six hours, or whatever. You are correct that's what these companies are doing.
