I was blown away, not for the first time, on my way to work this morning on the power and efficacy of the sound design in "The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking" album by Roger Waters.

My favorite example is the 2nd track, (Running Shoes) at around 1:15 there is the best use of a down shift in a music track ever followed up by some pretty good sounding, uh, shall we say "adult activity"..
