Recommendations for a camera

Hi, I'm moving over from the UK to Queensland and want to make short films and series once I get there. I'm thinking of buying a camera before I go and wanted to ask some advice on what to get. I want to have a camera that will give a professional look although my budget is only about £1000. I'm not sure of what features to look for in a camera so any advice or models to look at would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Look at any DSLR from Canon or Nikon. They both make fine cameras.
The camera is not what give a professional look; that look comes from
how you use the tool.

You will need a good mic and audio recorder. Sound is half the experience
and no DSLR records good audio.

Many people start with the Canon Rebel T6 (it might have a different name
in the UK). It's a great starter camera.

If you're looking for a camcorder you can't go wrong with Panasonic HC-V770.
You'll still need a good mic for audio. Look at the Panasonic HC-WXF991K.

Thanks for the advice! I'll do some reading up on those cameras.

its such a relief to get this decision made...

finally you can stop worrying about cameras and you can start worrying about how to make a film

What are you looking at filming? For pure bang for your buck it's hard to go past the Sony a6500 or a Panasonic G7, both will give vastly superior image to entry Canon or Nikon DSLRs IMO until you start getting into the Canon Cinema line which will be out of your range.

If I had a small budget and could only get one camera i'd go for a used Sony a6500 personally.
