Need some votes

http://www.openfilm.com/videos/accidental-art

We entered ACCIDENTAL ART in the contest at OPENFILM.COM for a chance at $500,000 in funding for the feature film. The advisory board is composed of James Caan, Mark Rydell, Robert Duvall, and Scott Caan (which name doesn’t belong on that list?). Even if we only make the top 10, we’d get seen and reviewed by these greats of cinema…. And Scott Caan.

We need VOTES to win. Please take the time to join the site and give us a vote.

Please help a brother out and take the few moments of your time to try to help break through.

Thanks,
Ross

Wow, what are the odds that two guys named Caan would both be on the same advisory board?

If I was cynical, I might suspect nepotism. Good thing that never happens in the movie biz. Everybody makes it solely on the basis of their talent.

Voted 5 stars. I really enjoyed the movie. Great premise and excellent shooting!

BTW, I noticed there's a facebook page for the movie, but the contest details aren't there. If you put up a link to the contest, we can send our friends to the page so they can watch and vote.

Is that a good idea? Don't know how these contests work.

I had started that page on FACEBOOK a few months ago and forgot about it.

So I updated it with the contest link as you mentioned. Most of my Facebook stuff is about my movies and links therein, but I shan't forget about the movie page...

THANKS ONE AND ALL!

Every single vote counts. I am very appreciative to those who have taken the time out to click a 5 ***** for this little movie o' mine.

I voted for you (I even signed up to do this, but heck? What a minute of my time for five gold stars?)...

I really hope you get into the top ten, I would love to have my work appraised by the great Scott Caan...

You got 5 huge stars from me sonnyboo. I really loved the short, excellent work. Man, I hope my efforts can be half as good. Huge points on the Scott Caan joke. Good luck man.

Many thanks (and bump).

As with all online contests, people in the competition seem to lose what used to be called "sportsmanship". Because there are loop holes to the voting, people make up a ton of accounts and vote down all the other movies, etc. Either they corrected it, or these precious votes are making the real difference. I appreciate every single legitimate vote.

We went from a 4 star average down to 2 and back up to 4, so I think the positivity compensates for the cheaters. If I win, I want to win it legitimately. I hope I have a real chance at this, but it's always hard to tell. The last winner was a friend of Scott Caan's and had acted with him in a few projects. I guess all these slams on him might count against me. Then again they are too funny not to make on the guy from the remake of Hawaii 5-0.

So the rampant cheating has just started. You can see in your "status feed" whenever someone rates your movie. Today I dropped from 4th place to 7th in 2 hours because there are a bunch of accounts, some called "SonnybooF" etc. that are voting down all the movies in the top 10 except for one that was never in the top ten before today.

Ah, the internet. Death to honesty and sportsmanship. Home of "how to best cheat to win".
