need help with ideas!!!

ok i need some help with an idea for a short maby around 5-10 minutes long. Obviously verry low budget. I was thinking it would be cool to do a short with only one actor but not sure how i would make that work. If any one has some good ideas and would like to help me out i would highly appreacheate it.

No specific ideas, but episodes of "The Twilight Zone", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and similar shows were done with minimal cast and sets. They might be worth checking out.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0734686/ - Two Actors

I havnt seen any of those ill have to check them out!

I really like that idea maby ill recreate it more modernly.

That was great. I was disappointed when I got to the credits and saw it was made in 1987, though. I was hoping it was made recently and the retro feel was a design choice.

Funny -- I had exactly the same reaction! I was really digging the off-kilter, unfocused credits with the skipping music, and was thinking what a good simulation of an old film they did, and then I saw the production date.

One of scorsese's film school projects was a short about a guy shaving, supposed to be about America hurting itself with Vietnam. Can probably get that online.

With one character, might be cool to try and do a waking up on the side of the road or woods bloody trying to figure out what happened, maybe hungover a search for a lost cellphone in an apartment, caller just keeps calling back-finally find it and its some wierd twist, like a doctor calling to say he has a deadly desease or father calling to say mom passed away.

Thanks for the great ideas! Im going to look for the scorsese film you were talking about. Maby it will give me even more ideas.

5-10 minutes is a long duration for your first attempt. I'd suggest you start smaller. A "Microshort", perhaps.

A one-minute narrative.

If you can hold the audiences attention for one minute, then you push on from there.

I like it Rik.:)

I agree that 1 minute might be better. One of my first shorts is going to be a conversation about how to film a conversation.:)

True. I see where your comming from i just find it soo hard to come up with short ideas. Like for example, me personaly, i find it easyer to think of ideas for feature length. but then the shorter the video the harder the ideas get for me.
