Making a zombie movie!

So, it's official. My next movie is a zombie movie. Until a couple days ago, it was just an idea being tossed around for a music video, but the band and I have finally formally agreed to what kind of video it's going to be, and when we're going to shoot it.

We're going full-tilt rated-R. Buckets of blood, bodies being torn apart, brains and guts eaten, and the zombies are the good guys.

Preproduction begins on July 9th (I'm on family vacation until then), we shoot in early August, some time around the 7th-10th, with the video slated to be completely finished by August 24th.

I put this post in the lobby because mostly it's just a way for me to say yippee, this is gonna be fun!

However, if there's any advice anyone can give, I'm all ears! This will be my first foray into special effects. I'm well adept at googling and watching youtube tutorials, so I wouldn't want anyone to waste their time telling me something that's readily available on the internet. But maybe there are little secrets, little tips anyone might have picked up along the way, that might not be common knowledge?

Also, as far as the content of the video is concerned, until preproduction officially starts I'm still in idea mode, so if anyone wants to throw out an idea, anything at all, I'd like to hear it. :)

Cheers! :)

Warm Bodies was awful.

So this is going to be akin to Thriller - that type of music video? Very cool.

If I have any idea, I'll let ya know. :)

They hide from us when we approach. And when we try to talk to them, they kill us with guns and knives! Then they mock us by making horror movies about us.

I'd act in it if you're willing to make a drive to Ohio for a scene or so.

Hell, I even have extra equipment.

Where will you be filming? If you need military vehicles let me know. The military vehicle forum I'm on has a lot of members up that way. I have a 600 acre site here in Alabama that would be ideal for that kind of movie (abandoned steel mill that still has buildings standing).

Fun... camera/post test your blood for color and viscosity before your shoot day... also test any blood delivery mechanisms... we've had quite a few fail on set and had to improvise.
