Okay, here's a silly little game that has circulated my workplace. We've had a slow week, and restaurant workers do this kind of stuff when we're bored. Anyway, you are going to make a team of mercenaries. It's a team of five -- yourself, plus any four characters from the movie universe. However, the one limitation is that you're not allowed to choose a main hero or main villain. So, for example, Luke and Vader are of course off limits, but Han is fair game.

My team is pretty badass, if I do say so myself:

Bumblebee offers stealth transportation, in addition to some major fire-power.
Data is both the brains of the group, and tough as nails.
R2D2 provides the best technical support around, and has a knack for getting teammates out of pinches.
Tsu'tey is a skilled fighter, but is mostly needed because he's the badass that will start a bar-fight.

Mr.T from A-Team

The funny noises guy from Police Academy

and Morpheus from Matrix would be their boss.

Apollo Creed - Rocky
The Red mist - Kick Ass
Severus Snape - Harry Potter
Legolas - LOTR

I've just realised i was meant to include myself in this. Well, i'll coordinate from the office.
 
Four characters I would hire to help me with an armed conflict:

Robert Jefferson - good with explosives
Sentenza - he’s ruthless and sociopathic - good with the guns
Marvin Unger - the muscle
Fei - a loyal side kick who can kick ass
 
I would have an all female team:

A-ko from the Anime Project Ako as the muscle.
Oracle from Birds of Prey as the brains.
Black Widow for Espionage
Laura Croft for all the exploration.
and I'll take the T-X "Terminatrix" for the heavy artillery :D
 
Team Leader: Indiana Jones, as of Raiders.
Gun-Man: Agent Smith
Driver: Frank Bullitt
Doctor: Captain Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce
Comedy Fall Guy: Gimli

EDIT: Having seen PTPs comment and re-read the OP I too shall be coordinating my team from behind the desk in my office...

wheat, it's not for one single mission -- you're going to work with these people over and over again. Think "A-Team". This week, you could be rescuing a kidnapped princess from within a drug lord's compound in Columbia, and next week you're on Tatooine to assassinate Jabba the Hut.

Tinalera, if you're gonna take an all-female team, I think Leeloo, from "5th Element" is a must-have.

PTP, interesting pick with Etchasketch. Otherwise, your team is rather impressive. Personally, I think I would've prefered Mr. Potato Head.

ROC, in a roundabout way, your jokes have forced me to re-think my final pick. I think instead of Tsu'tey, I should probably go with Mike Ditka!

Takes as a given that we're the Inspiring Leader archetype; the one that those in need come to, the glue, the motivation, the Hannibal to this hypothetical A-team if you will. And that loyaty is a non-issue.

The Fixer - Charles Foster Ofdensen
The Heavy - The Balrog of Moria
The Ninja - 'deadly little' Miho
The Weapons Specialist- Briareos Hecatonchires <<technically allowable if Leeloo is; love interest to protagonist>>
The Supernatural - Lucifer (as played by Viggo Mortensen) <<*not* the main villain in this instance ;)>>
