I need some quality free soundtrack websites

I'm doing a Resident Evil fan film, and am in need of some creepy and suspencful music to play. Anyone know any good sites out there where I can get some non-copyrighted music that I don't have to pay to donwload?

Check THIS SECTION of indietalk. You'll have to click on a lot of threads but you will
find musicians all over who are willing to write an original score for your for free.

for non profit use both Moby and Nine Inch Nails have released lots of tracks, full songs and sub tracks to Open Source.

I did note the langauge changed on the moby site.. it now says free to Independent film makers not just non profits.. potential very good news?
Same license as before, if you make some money you donate some money to the human society.

Wheatgrinder,

Not to hijack the thread :) but...so the remixes of NIN songs (from that listed site) are okay to use ? If my movie makes money I just have to donate to the Humane Society?

no, the NIN and MOBY stuff is under different license.. and as far as the Moby stuff goes, I cant actually FIND a copy of the commercial licenses, there is a link for each tune to request a license maybe you have to go through that process... to get the commercial license too

I don't think Moby provides any standard commercial license. You'd probably have to go through the usual channels to license for anything that makes money.

It starts slow and slightly haunting, but with an epic feel to it.

If you want a pad or two and have the scenes cut I can do something quick.

If you have a keyboard and want to create a fairly easy pad, play a minor 5th.

I'm writing the screenplay (by hand, for some God only knows reason) but I'll be typing up the first few scenes soon and I'll let you be the first to know when I put them online!

Thats a great idea, why don't more musicians do this? I have no problem donating portion of potential profits to charities even if its the Republican party

You usually worry about music after the movie is shot and scenes edited. Then the musician watches the scenes and plays/composes to the visuals.

Most of the music at http://rocksuresoundz.com is not totally free (ie: it is pay for a download license Royalty-free music), but there are a few free songs and also some pretty cheap stingers/bumpers short transitions. These are pieces of music under 20 secs long in a range of styles that can be handy for emphasis, scene closure etc.
