Greetings, and most sincere apologies to all.

I want this post to be a warning to all following the path mentioned here.

January 5th 2020 there was a 15 year old boy. A very immature and proud one in fact, often he would go abroad online. Seeking attention, confirmation. He tried to make himself seem smart, said things as if they made him revered in some way. At January 5th he reached the height of his pride. On this server the immature, foolish boy made up and posted an awfully long speech with little substance, trust, manners or regard. He thought he sounded smart, successful, but really this fool writing out lies only made himself look horrible. He was delusional of course, untrustworthy. Using sly methods and ways to gain attention. That day it changed, he was hit with the cold truth that he wasn’t all he thought himself to be. In fact, he was nothing. In return for his post he was banned from this server. That fool took a while to understand his actions. To reflect and change into a new person.
That creature was some version of myself at the start of this year, although I have tried to forget, dis-identify myself from that fool and move on I can’t help but think. Will this mistake of my younger self come back in the future to destroy me? Has this destroyed my reputation? Then I realised that it was too late, my reputation on this server is destroyed. No doubt all have moved on or forgotten, or used me as an example of foolishness, as they should. I realised that the reputation part doesn’t matter. It’s the ability to change.

So if anyone on this server is withholding anything, trying to make themselves seem like something or someone they are not. Change now, before it is too late.
‘I doubt I will remain long in this server, surely I will be banned again. But please do not remove this message, allow it to remain and be an example to all those of sly, deceitful nature. That they must change now, or forever have regret.

sincerely

A now humble filmmaker

Also, another thing you will learn is filmmakers are some of the most dramatic and emotional people in the world. It really is a passion project kinda job.

Number one lesson is don't rub people the wrong way, and stick to how you like to do things. And don't let it wear you down. I have to retell myself that everyday.

It's not the people on the internet you should be appealing to anyway, its your own sense of vision and destiny. We have to really try and undo this whole "needing feedback" thing.

Focus on you and your project. Get it done. Do the work. Learn the lessons. And keep going. What people say about it or you will always be secondary to the vision and the art.

Its much harder to think this way in the Youtube culture pot. Its too much instant grat, and not enough grind. Flip the script, embrace the labor, and the results should speak for themselves.

This is not the way to return after a ban. You should contact the admin and let them know what you posted, that you have changed and want another shot. I am aware you asked to come back once but you did not express what you expressed here. So we will give you a shot. I will ban this account and open your old, perhaps you can post in this thread so the members know who we are referring to. There's no reason to forget who you were. You just make changes, which is hopefully what you are doing. If you are here to learn and ask filmmaking questions, welcome back.

I don't know what transpired to lead to a ban, and I'm not making excuses for anyone or anything. But in principle you have my sympathy. When many of us were kids there was no internet, at least not as we know it today, no cool forums such as this one. On the one hand, we missed out on a great resource. On the other hand, it was a great mercy. When we were your age we had the luxury to grow up, develop, construct ourselves, and perhaps most importantly, make mistakes that would be forgotten, if not also forgiven, without those mistakes, or perceived mistakes, being documented "forever" on social media—as, we are told things put on the internet are forever. I fear for young people growing up amidst that, and I sure don't envy you for it. Heck, I fear for us all.

So it's nice of IT to give you another chance. I recommend you don't squander it. Sure looks like you have a passion for filmmaking and I'm guessing you want to make a career of it. I suggest treating Indietalk like the professional network and tool it is and can be, and that you try to conduct yourself professionally when on it. If you follow this passion into adulthood, then you'll probably want jobs doing it, people to work with, funding, etc. For better or for worse, reputation matters. People don't want to hire, work with, or fund flakes; try hard not to be one.

A little humility goes a long way. A bit of kindness can do wonders. Most of all, live and learn.

Welcome back, young man, and good luck.
