Getting out a funk....

1) Open editor
2) Pick random piece of footage, spin a wheel or roll some dice
3) Place footage on timeline
4) Pick second random piece of footage and place on timeline
5) Find a 3rd that makes sense for those two
6) Now that you've started, go back and fix the crappy first cut - it's editing, if you end up with the finished product first time through, you're doing it wrong! It's called editing, edit!

I am a producer, go, move, Nathan is right!

Well, thank you for all the advice, and I have started editing :)

And once I started I do get going, did a large amount last night, getting back to it today.

So, April 1 then. Anyone else who wants to premiere that day, feel free (And I'm holding this to you CF-I'm doing it, so now you gotta do it! ;))

That's great, Tina! I look forward to April the 1st....or elseeeeee. :pop:

Just start is my best advice. The great thing about working with computers is that you can do it, andif it blows, you haven't actually cut film or permanately modified the original footage, so it's easy as hell to fix flub-ups!

Okay, so.

Can this be our first sticky?

I mean really. How many of us here have come here in the midst of precisely this dilemma?

Really.

As for me, I have an entire concert's worth of 2 camera footage that sits unedited on my drive. As I tried to cut it together I realized a great many things, not the least of which is that I needed at least 1 additional camera. :(

Does that count? I could resolve to try making some of it into something by April 1.

Wait, isn't that what we were doing? Or did I just horn in on some secret pact between Cracker and Tin?

Don't you mean Robitussin??

;)

Secret Pact-now you too must learn things that cannot be unlearned!:weird::lol:

Drinking from shoes is all the rage? Wow, who'd a thunk it.

Hey I think an April 1 screen would be great idea . "Indietalk April Fools Festival" sounds catchy ;)

In these dreary days of winter (for most us) we're stuck inside anyway-may as well make the most of it!

It's open to anybody, with the emphasis being on those who have unfinished edited work that, like me, just keep being put off. For those who who don't have unfinished footage, maybe just ideas that you've been wanting to do but kept putting off.

I can't speak for the other guy, but I was making a Werner Herzog/Julian Donkey-Boy reference. 'Tussin from a shoe. Rough.

Although Herzog once ate a shoe, but that's another story, and since Alice Waters cooked it, it probably shouldn't count.

Cant' say that I have. Not too familiar with the "Boosh." A few folks recommended it though, but too much other stuff on tap at the moment.

That link I posted earlier, about the funky ball of tits from outter space. That's part 2 of Old Greg. In part 1, he mentions drinking Bailey's out of a shoe.

Oh, and until earlier today, I didn't realize that the April Fools Fest was specifically for work that's been put off. I thought it was just to screen anything. But I like the picking up old unfinished work theme.

Well, I tried to vary that idea: I mean, if you've got something you want to screen, and it's going to be done around that time, that's fine too :)

I think originally it was a "hey, who wants to screen something", but as more input was added, it seemed like a neat idea to do the "unfinished business" approach.

I mean, if you want to start something now in time for April 1, be my guest-you were the first one to "put your footage where your mouth is" :D, and that was truly inspiring! :)

So YOU particularly I'm going to be looking for.....and I look forward to seeing you top your "secret santa" gift to me :D

I see.

Dunno about all that. Seemed to be going that direction, and I need some sort of deadline to edit that footage, if only to give DVDs to my buddies. It's long overdue.
