watch Freak Out?

I've talked with thread starter, and even though another member is posting from the same IP, they swear they are just hyping this thread because they love the film, and are not one person connected to the film hyping it.

I give them the benefit of the doubt.

;)

Thanks Indie-Talk!! I'm just a big fan of this particular movie and I wanna get the word out. I was late with Donnie Darko and and the last man on Earth to see Shaun Of The Dead so I'm just a little excited and smug about being part of the select few to have witnessed F.O in all it's gory-glory I guess!! ;) Just to reiterate I ain't got nothing to do with this flick, I just love it and think it deserves some recognition. Apologies to any of the Freak Out peops out there!

That makes me feel better. Check it out, Shaun is fantastic, American werewolf with Zombies is the best way I can put it.

If u read some of the reviews on Freak Out, Shaun is sometimes mentioned which is weird 'cos A: Freak Out was made before Shaun and B: Freak Out is far more left-of-centre. Both movies are freaking great but they are completely different....

By left-of-centre I mean humo(u)r-wise, whereas Shaun's humour is very deadpan Freak Out is extremely surreal and non-mainstream in it's approach, there's a linnear storyline throughout but it is very irreverant, like some of the better episodes of South Park or Kids In The Hall.

Cheers for the explanation. I think that Simon Pegg did himself much more justice as a writer with Spaced, which, to be fair, despite being part of the now general channel 4 malaise, was at its time surreal and left of centre. is freak out at all in the same vein?if it is - i am rubbing my hands with anticipation.

:D I read something interesting RE: The Spaced Director in an Interview with the Freak out peops, I'll try and find it for you...

It's not entirely similiar, but if u like Spaced I can't see you not liking Freak Out. It's fast moving, with sharp dialogue and blink and you'll miss it genre references so I'm sure it'll be up your alley.
Here's the interview I referred to.. It's an interview with the Freak Out team on Bloody Disgusting, and this little bit of info may interest you;

DAN: When I first went there (film college), I was really concerned because the average age of students there was like between like 23 and 30. Me and Christian were the youngest people there! We were straight out of school, basically. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. The first day, I was wearing a "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" T-shirt! I was really nervous, being amongst all of these Fellini fans! But, Edgar Wright, who was a year above us, was doing an essay on Sam Raimi and Romero movies. So we knew that some people were like us.

The entire interview is here: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/features.php?id=36
It's quite a read and funny to boot!

Buzz cola!

Hi there everyone!

Really enjoying these forums

I specialise in video art projects, please check out my profile for details.

Wow! These Freak Out fellas have really got something going there, from thir website they seem to have created enormous buzz. And I suppose you cant do that without superior product so I greatly anticipate its general release. I should mention the pure joy they must be feeling as one of my art projects had distribution a few years ago, it was on a free video attached to 'Attitude' magazine in the UK.

Does any know anything technical about the project? I'm having trouble finding a reliable sound man, never overlook the importance of a really good (looking) sound department. With regards to small films gaining acceptance, has anyone got any hints and tips? I once used an automatic dialling machine to cold call set numbers with a recorded message. I nearly got taken to court! Hahahaha!

Please reply to my message.

x

Manners arnt everything, it seems.

I dont appreciate that FatCyborg.

I'm particitpating and all you have done is cut me down. Rude.

I am currently prepping a new video art and am looking for crew in the cuntingdon area, really looking for a semi experienced dolly man.

I read the Freak Out bitchslap interview, the makes seem like a fun bunch. I would like to watch that film with an artful eye.

You don't need to mention this in all of your posts. If you want to start an advertising thread that is fine, but you've replied to 5 discussion threads with this ad.

I'm terribly sorry. Really, really sorry.

I was just repeating myself because maybe, perhaps, not everyone reads ALL the different threads, so I was just letting people know. Consider my bum bum spanked.

If you need people you can post in "Crew and Casting calls" forum, so people know where to look for it, not in discussions.

I apologise if you were hurt by my dreadful words PeteWheatBisks, maybe you should visit bumspank.com as apposed to IndieTalk. Just joshing. What were we talking aboot?
