Filmaking equitment.

I am want to shoot a 30 minute short movie, but don't really know what equitment I need and what online stores to get it from. Can anyone help?

a tripod
6 lights with stands
2 china balls
8 extension cords
6 power strips
black wrap and gels
2 bounce boards
a good external mic
a boom with extension cables
gaffers tape
a bunch of C-47’s - also called “bullets” or wood cloths pins
a coffee maker

If you can afford it - these items you can rent:

a simple grip kit with:
c-stands (at least 6)
flags (assorted sizes - at least 8)
scrims (at least 6)
silks (at least 2)

yeah.. best off starting with a camera & tripod external Mic.. then lights i'd say thats in order of necessity. (providing you've got storyboards at least)

Yeah, what kind should I get? A JVC, Sony, Panasonic, etc.
All three (and Canon and Samsung) make fine cameras. It
won't really make any difference the brand you get. Just
make sure the camera you get has manual controls for
the iris, shutter, focus and white balance and a microphone
input.

Thank you very much. But What camera is more user friendly, I havent really worked with prosumer cameras.

You don't necessarily need a "prosumer" camera. There are
many consumer cameras made by JVC, Sony, Panasonic, Canon
and Samsung that are very user friendly. Any camera in the
$1,000 to $1,500 range will be user friendly. Even the cameras
with full manual controls will also be fully automatic. You can
literally turn the camera on, point it and press record - it will
set the white balance, shutter, exposure and focus. But with
manual controls you can learn to adjust those things to get a
better picture.

I'm sure you've looked at the “Cameras & Lenses” forum where
there are several threads devoted to camera discussions.

Have you considered finding someone in your area who already
owns a camera and knows how to use it? Many times having
other people involved in a short film can be a very valuable thing.
Collaboration with others can result in a great movie and even
more projects.

There are only a few cameras on the market that have a
removable lens. Not one of them is a "consumer" camera.
Are you looking for a professional camera? I get the impression
you are looking for something cheaper and more user friendly
than even a "prosumer" camera. Something like the Canon
HV40 or the JVC HM400.

But if you need a camera with a removable lens I can point
you in the right direction. Are you prepared for the cost?

Well, I have about 3,000 dollars to spare for the camera and another grand for equipment. I want a very high quality camera with interchangeable lenses.
What about those new DSLR that shoot hd video at 24p? Their cheap, they have interchangeable lenses, and they have cheap rigs available for them.
I even heard that the new live action star wars T.V show will be shot on HDSLR's.

For your budget range and what you're looking for, I highly recommend the Canon 7D. It's cheap, compact, has a large sensor, shoots 1080/24p, has interchangeable lenses, and shoots in full manual and automatic modes. I shoot with one and can't praise it enough.
