Favorite Potter Film

I second 3, though I've enjoyed them all (and really did love the last two). For two reasons, mostly. First, while not my favorite book in the series, that was when I really started liking them (don't care much for the first two). Second, it's absolutely beautiful, and very storybook-like. It took on character as a film, whereas the first two were definitely just adapting the source. The whimsical transition shots with the whomping willow are a good example of what I mean. I could compare it to the tv show Pushing Daisies (one of my favorites in years).

For me the two parts of Deathly Hallows are the ying and yang that I enjoy the most.

I think that Half Blood Prince is the most precisely, economically (although it's the most expensive!) and enthusiastically crafted. It was rightly nominated for the Cinematography Oscar.

I know that a lot of people like Cuaron's Prisoner of Azkaban but, for me, the balance between style and story swings too much to the former in that one. It's good but for me Cuaron misses the tone of the Potter books which Yates and Colombus nailed.

For me the weakest is Goblet of Fire where I don't think the tone is right at all and I think Mike Newell brings little style. For me that was the only film that felt like a blockbuster rather than the character drama (with dragons) that they should be.
