Done my first short!

After many questions and reading i decided that i will NEVER learn how to make film, unless I'll get my butt to the camera and make a short film. So what I don't have $1000 camera? Got my miniDVD hitachi.Light? Desk lamps and a construction light from my previous house repair. Done. Actor? I'll just do it myself!

Did my very first actual short-minute-long project! And I've learn soo much just in the past hour, as far as lightning, than from the last week reading about it!

For example, when I switched the angle of the camera, I started getting bad visible shadows, so I figured with every new dramatic camera angle change I need to move the light as well.. Seems kind of obvious, but it slipped out of my head... Or I had to change different gel intencity, depending on how close the light was to the object...

So anyways, enough of my excitement, need to start editing my clips!

Are there any more small little tips on lightning that you guys might suggest? for example, white balance. Should I rebalance it every time I change the gel on my light?

You can read and read and read and something as
small (and important) as that can be missed. But
when you are on the "set" you see it.

I got a million tips on lighting. Hard to know what to
throw at you now.

Depending on your camera and the lights you should
not adjust the white balance. The purpose of a gel is
to add a little color. Pro cameras will adjust a color (like
a light blue) to white - that's what balancing does - so
you want to balance to a true white and then throw in
your gels. I'm not sure if your camera is that sensitive.

Don't fly kites in thunderstorms.

Seriously, though... edit it up and pop it into one of the screening rooms. I'll probably have some ideas or suggestions after watching it.

Congrats on shooting your first film!

Congrats on getting your feet wet; next time you can wade in up to your knees!

These questions are obvious coming from me...

What did you do about sound? And how are you going to deal with sound in post?
