Danny Boyle's "127 Hours"

New trailer just out from Danny Boyle's latest, "127 Hours."

It's based, if I"m not mistaken, on the true story of a mountain climber who got his hand caught between two boulders and, faced with the the possibility of a slow death, decided to amputate his arm with a pocket knife to escape.

Definitely looking forward to this.

Danny Boyle has made amazing stuff. This looks to be promising and psychologically challenging for the audience too.

When I saw this, the first thing I couldn't help wonder was whether or not James Franco has what it takes to carry a movie practically all by himself. Will Smith was good in "I Am Legend", and Tom Hanks completely owned "Castaway", but does James Franco have the charisma?

This could be a really interesting movie, and I like it when Hollywood gives us something we haven't seen before. But then, it could end up being an absolute bore. Did anyone see "Open Water"?

I have and open water couldn't of been a less resourceful film with the lowest budget. If i were the director i would be embarrased i made such a shambles of a movie lol... it's about as bad as the Australian indie film- Black Water.. Wow ha

I agree with what your saying about Franco maybe not being able to hold his own but seems pretty good so far going by the trailer.. lets wait and see.

Yeah, I'll definitely check "127 Hours" out, and hopefully my worries are for naught.

By the way, according to wikipedia, "Open Water" had a budget of $130,000. I've seen movies that were far more interesting, made on budgets of much less.

I think it will be a great film, Danny dosen't disappoint.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it distracts him from making 28 months later, or even remake 28 weeks.

I think Franco has potential, he was convincing in "Milk", in a more serious and drama effected role, as apposed of his comedic roles.

If, there is a movie set on the late Jeff Buckley, i can see Franco being cast, they have uncanny resemblance.

haha i see what you mean about the resemblance bewteen Franco and Jeff Buckley.. very uncanny indeed!

Headline: "Danny Boyle's '127 Hours' Causes Fainting, Vomiting and Seizures."

Boyle's little film has people passing out, throwing up, falling into seizures in numbers not seen since "The Exorcist," and it hasn't even hit theaters yet.

MovieLine.com has a comprehensive timeline of all the people who have had what I'll call "visceral reactions" to the arm amputation scene: http://www.movieline.com/2010/11/ar...ine-of-everyone-whos-fainted-at-127-hours.php

Fox Searchlight President Stephen Gilula is not pleased: "“I would prefer that people not pass out; it’s not a plus. […] We don’t see a particular publicity value in it.”

If you go to the premier, take a barf-bag or finish your popcorn quickly.

omg, I thought the film was an interesting idea but I was not planning on seeing it due to my fear of said 'visceral reactions.' Now I know my fears are justified. :scared:

@Stephen Gilula's comment: :lol::lol:

Mmm, I dunno. I trust The Huffington Post, but they are only reporting on an article written by The Sun, and they tend to be just slightly sensational. With all the rave reviews, I'm looking forward to this one, very much; I'll report the carnage after I see it.

EDIT: Oh, wow. My above comment was obviously just based on the first link. The second link is quite another story.

HuffPo also has a bad habit of reporting stories using the Telegraph as their only source. Yes, the Telegraph - that UK version of the Globe owned by Rupert Murdoch...

If it is a publicity stunt (which I doubt, given the film), then it totally makes me think of that John Goodman film...googling in progress...it's called Matinee (1993)
