Changing the colors of an emergency vehicle LED lightbar

I was going to purchase some WHITE LED kits on eBay, install them on my cop car and use them without worry on the set and then in post use After Effects or other software to change the LED lights to red and blue.

Can this be done? Any problems?

Thank you.

Can it be done? Sure. Given sufficient time and resources, you can do anything.

Should you do it this way? I don't think so. You're going to have to track and deal with a lot of splash light if you choose to do this method. Of course this depends on what the shots are and what effects you are trying to achieve.

If I remember right, you're a one man band. The real question you need to ask: Can you do this?

Why don't you put a gel over the light(s) in question?

As I've said to you before, test, test, test.

The light that hits the background will be the challenge. Changing the
color of the source is easy. If you have the skills (or are willing to learn
the skills) to do it then it can be done.

Gels are a great option. Or buy the correct lights and make a phone
call to the local police on the day you shoot.
