issues dealing with his "reign" in office. Chosen films will
screen during the Republican National Convention when
Bush accepts his nomination for President.
THERE ARE NO SUBMISSION FEES FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROGRAM.
However, submissions must be in before July 12, 2004.

im getting really sick of this, they can't come up with a more original idea than going after Bush? You think Moore had sucked the life out of this idea by now. He's the president for god's sakes, quit whining and get over it. They won't be able to change the election, so quit trying.

quit whining and get over it.

Errrm... no?

I'll get over it the day he is no longer in the White House.

o.k. thats great, but what im saying is that it just isnt an original idea for a film festival. Isn't that the whole point of film? To make somthing original, somthing unique, somthing that has to do with art. Well i'm sorry, but continuously bashing on Bush is not original, is not unuique, and has little, if anything to do with art.

I would say that I am a Bush supporter and I have no problem with antiBush films or film fests. It is a freedom of speech to question and disagree with the President. The only thing I ask is that the anti Bush people be sensible and not call him Hitler, but I guess actually knowing and understanding History is something I can't expect of people educated in the US school system. Anyway, as far as being anti President, it's okay. No one can please everyone, so there are gonna be people against a President.

I would however like to see someone start up an anti Liberal film fest, but alas it is only a beautiful dream.

Seriously... the OP just wants film about a certain topic.

It's no different than wanting films that deal with aquatic life, or hand-drawn animations, or any other category that the organisers have an interest in.

In some ways, it's even more original than your generic film-fest where they want "whatever". There are thousands of those across the US alone, each year.

The issue is moot, in any event. Deadline for submissions was over a month ago... so you'll just have to submit the film we all know you secretly worked on next year. ;)

Meanwhile, you can enjoy some of these.

" To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt

okay, so it may not be as art driven as some other film festivals, but this is a serious topic. i mean, whoever controls america controls the world, just ask the amount of bombed places in the middle east. If the movie industry can get a chance to influence the decision of who lands the no'1 chair, why shouldnt it?
this aint just about art, its about future life in our countries

To be fair here ... people who want to speak out against those who speak out against the President have just as much freedom of speech as the speaker outers against the Presidenters.

This isn't necessarily my opinion, but a lot of people view those in the film industry as entertainers and they feel that said entertainers are overstepping their bounds when they delve into the political arena.

I say let 'em say what they want. People like Susan Sarandon and George Clooney have no idea how out of touch they are with the common man. In the end, we the people always elect who we the people want to elect (please no whiners about the 2000 election, it was won fair and square - four recounts by major news outlets agree - despite what Michael Moore says), and that's the way our Forefathers meant it to be. (cue patriotic music) We will see in the coming election if our country is leaning left or right. And no matter who we elect we will still be America and we will still strive for what we believe is right and good.

By the way, ever wonder what organizations like MoveOn.org and filmmakwers like Michael Moore will do if Kerry wins?

Food for thought.

People asked the same questions about Rush Limbaugh, when the Republicans had both Houses and 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

The answer is... nothing will happen.

Most people seem to be unaware that Mr Moore is critical of both mainstream parties. Clinton was a frequent target in his "TV Nation" and "The Awful Truth" television series, and was criticised rather bluntly in "Bowling For Columbine".

Moore will still be around doing what he does best... which is presenting to the public his views and opinions on policies that are being implemented, that he doesn't feel are good for the average American.

MoveOn.org will change focus in much the same way that Limbaugh did, and switch to apologist if their man Kerry gets in.

I'm looking forward to a brand new TV series, for starters.

I'm glad someone pays attention.

The point you made about Moore being an equal opportunity denouncer is easily left out these days cause the democrats are championing his "heroics" (they had him on stage with ex Democrat Presidents at the DNC). The man is a Socialist, not a Dem or even a Lib.

I had a prediction on that post that I deleted (don't know why). It went something like this ...

1) MoveOn.org will move on (pun intended) to it's Kerry smear campaign in oreder bolster Hilary Clinton's impending run for the White House.
2) Moore will make a doc about how Kerry really didn't earn his Purple Hearts and somehow tie it in with Tyrranical Teresa's Ketchup (or Catsup) Empire.
3) I will gain national exposure when I record the hit rap single "I Din' Vote fo Dat Foo!" Which will be followed up by the flop, "Mr. Sassy Pants and His Sassified Orchestra".

I applaud these filmmakers for making something they feel passionate about and if that happens to be getting Bush out of office, then more power to them. They aren't whining anymore than Rush or Al Franken, just expressing their point of view.

Power to the People, baby!!! Just do it with pictures, not bullets or bombs.

good point scott.
have any of you guys seen ' the Awful Truth'? Moore doesnt just fix his attacks on political candidates, other rich people in america are brought into public view. how come there isnt as many film festivals on these other people as there are on Bush?
Say what you want about michael moore, but i personally think he is brilliant. I wouldnt be aware of what goes on in american politics if it wasnt for him. He brings people info they must know, and in the run up to the election it couldnt be a more crucial time to do so.

90 % of those "facts" your talking about are either not true, or he says them in a way that he knows people will mis interperet and think he said somthing different. Like he actually said Saddam never attacked an American citizen. He actually pretended like the Gulf war never happened. Then he trys to say Bush went into Afghanistan because a company he worked for wanted oil that was there. That plan was scracted in 1998, 3 years before Bush took office.

Because Bush is making them be evil. Just like he invented the A-bomb and tricked Satan into tricking Eve into eating the forbidden fruit.

He didn't say Moore was his exclusive source for what happens in politics.

An awareness of what is happening in the world has to start somewhere, though.

please no whiners about the 2000 election, it was won fair and square

This is the most horrific statement I've ever heard on these boards.

I wouldn't be aware of what goes on in British politics if it weren't for Benny Hill. j/k

nice one zensteve :D

and on vinnyd's point of bush not being in Afghanistan in 1998, i know he wouldnt have done anything then. but it is 2004, american and british soldiers are still knocking around the middle east.
If this supposed war is over, then why arent the troops allowed to come home?
