A Joker's Card at Twisted Nightmare Weekend

This is the last time A Joker's Card will be shown in Cleveland, tonight at 6pm at Twisted Nightmare Weekend Convention, the location is at Quality Airport Inn, 7230 Engle Rd., Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130, check out the website at http://www.twistednightmareweekend.com/ (A lot celebrities are attending)

In addition, Geroge Butiri's Crops trailer will be shown and Joe Ostrica's Guys will be shown at 6:30pm

A Joker's Card, my latest parody/fan film shot with 3 3ccd cameras and a Bolex 16mm mixed together, has gotten a lot of good reviews (Filmthreat, MicroCinema Magazine, Cinema Crazed, LivingCorpse, Cleveland Magazine, etc), plus it's the recipient for 26th Telly Award for Best Entertainment. It is still continuing its festival route (including one next year) by request, and it will be on IndieVegas TV this September and soon to be featured by ClickFlick Entertainment.

Hats off to everyone involved, particularly all the Cleveland IndieClub members, and several IndieClub members (John Sheetz - directed a few scenes for me, Kathy Fitzgerald, Thomas Ballard, Lary Coda, Christine Chapman, M!ke Bove, etc), if I failed to mention your name, it's because I'm getting old and stupid. :)

The short film is actually showing this Saturday at Captain's Wreck- Beach International Film Festival in Canada :) Visit this link for more info: http://www.wreck-beach.org/filmfestival/index.php

We are now in pre-produciton of the feature inspired by A Joker's Card, no more parody, and darker, here's the synopsis: Trust: Just a five-letter word, but one that carries more weight in this world than any could fathom. What happens when sabotage, deceit, and betrayal push trust to the breaking point? When Midael and Abaddon, two enhanced humans (Chimaeras: Midael with 15' long metal wings that shoots out like daggers, Abaddon/Job with 15' long metal tail and can manipulate energy), become part of a high-stakes and violent game of cat-and-mouse, each learns just how much trust can be lost when everyone they meet has an agenda. Soon, the two must adapt their own agendas as they are dragged further into a chaotic realm of hatred, illusion, and death. When the pieces finally fall into place, where will their allegiances lie? As trust becomes merely a myth, will they find themselves becoming part of the very organizations that sought to use them, or will they break free and seek out destinies of their own making?

I ALREADY enjoyed it on Undergroundfilm.org!!!

I'm not SURE, but the climacitc ending battle looked like something I'd wanna capture on the best possible medium... is that the film? It's too hard to see in a little box on the computer. Maybe I'll be able to tell at the beach.. ah shit.. I gotta go get bug-spray.

the end battle is a mix of 16mm reversal film stock and 3 3ccd cameras (2 xl1), 1 pd150 oh, and sometimes 3 xl1 (when Kathy is there) :)

I didn't know you had 16mm mixed in there. I'll load up the DVD again and watch for it specifically, this weekend.

That new more serious project sounds like a logical next step. Looking forward to hearing more about that.

thanks, zensteve, if you have time, take a look at the A Joker's Card forum for Joker's Rapture, it's going to be a HD feature and a lot more gore, dark and very Anime styled, i have the outline of the story done and now working on the script, we are starting the main audition for the main roles soon so we can practice with them on wire work and stunts. This is going to be SAG Ultra Low Budget film as we are approaching a few friends we know in LA :)
