Please help my film on Netflix

Saved on my netflix, also gave it 5 stars. Please help me out as well, my film "White Wall" just got out of the "saved" mode, but it's taking a lot of heat from people who pirated. A lot of the reviews were being posted before the film was released.

    Self Improvement

After finishing my first feature White Wall, and having the 4 years of my life torn to shreds by audiences, I have finally spent enough time away from it to reflect and judge my work with a distant and detached eye. I was wondering what some of you have learned from your past mistakes and how...

Where are you selling the bulk of your DVDs?

I believe you have control over how long you want it to stream on netflix? I've seen films come and go in a matter of weeks. I think streaming it will create two extremes. It will either hurt your film or help it greatly. If it's a really good film, people will buy it after watching it. If it is...

    Got my first acceptance!

ussinners, Yes, I shot a portion of White Wall using the HVX200. I never did a film out, so I dont have a 35mm print. Everything ended up on Final Cut as Apple Pro Res, and It was exported onto a HDCAM SR. The film out is just too expensive and not worth doing. Hope this answers your question.

Where are you selling the bulk of your DVDs?

I've been talking to several filmmakers, and it seems like the best way to make money is selling your film at events in person. It's more personal, and people will be more supportive. But overall people like to rent before buying, so having your film on netflix or blockbuster.com is probably...

What is the most frustrating aspect of being a filmmaker?

Because your movie gets passed on from you to the sales agent, then to the distributor. It becomes a very long process. When the sales agent gets your film, they start from scratch, they start thinking about how they are going to sell this thing. Then when they finally sell it,(which could...

How do you get your film noticed?

On an indie level, it doesn't make sense to put a whole lot of money into advertising. Hitting a home run with the magazines will most likely only happen if you know someone really well that runs the company. I think the best bet for an indie film is to make a film that is really good, let the...

    watch WHITE WALL (NEW TRAILER)

Hey everyone, this is the trailer for my first indie feature film coming out on bluray/dvd in about a month. It's a post apocalyptic, action/drama. It's been 4 years in the making! The trailer couldn't have been done without the help of videocopilot for their awsome tutorials. Let me know what...

    Famous Songs

Sometimes the band members have all the power, it's all in their contract. If you are lucky enough to find good music that the band has full say, and they love your rough cut of the film, then you can make a very favorable deal. But most of the time, you will face rejection and you will have to...

    Moving To LA

You will find true inspiration in LA. Just walk into some of the acting classes and tell them you are an aspiring director and try to get inside the actors mind, also see how the teacher controls their acting. All the dedicated actors are here in LA and you will be able to meet some real...

    Your facepalm moments during filmmaking

    1. The light was placed too close to the sprinkler and the heat set it off. Everything was drenched and flooded in this old underground run down meet factory and the costumes, equipment and a whole lot of stuff was wasted. The location manager was nowhere to be found and it took 30 minutes to...

    Advice on Gaining Exposure

This is the best advice. I think being constantly aware of how you make decisions will help you have a clear understanding of how to really reach your audience. Im still working on that myself because my film is releasing next month and I really need to hit my audience in order for me to make a...

    Hate Actors

This is a common story even in the big leagues. I read about it all the time, so you need to always have options. I had an actor who disappeared on me before the shoot and he was the lead antagonist. I had to look up his band to try to get in touch with him, and they answered but then started...
