watch New short Sketch Video "Improvements"

Great film I really enjoyed the film. I love stuff like this. When filmmakers (especially new filmmakers) can poke fun at themselves through their work, it shows they've got something that the "Big Boys" don't have... room to grow, and the willling to do so. Congrats and I can't wait to see...

    Mics and Adobe On Location

I was wondering if anyone has found a way to run a mic straight to the computer instead of through the camera while using On Location? I read through all the manuals and books and haven't found a way... maybe I'm missing it, but more than likely it's not possible. I was wondering because I...

    digital storage space

True, but if you watch for deals you can get some great scores. At XMas I picked up a Western Digital 1 TB for $100. So just keep watching and you'll find what oyu need.

should i use or create new music for film?

Finding people to do music for a film is easy. If you want a score or a soundtrack, you've got it made. There are a ton of musicians who want their music heard (even more than filmmakers who want their films seen!). I tracked down a band to do the score and soundtrack for my short and now they...

    digital storage space

Back to the digital storage space, keep an eye out for deals.. but Walmart has a 1TB external drive for $106 and you'll never have to delete files!! Like Zen said, I keep a seperate external drive (jump drive or passport) for every film/video project. Makes it easier to find files. Then I use...

    mini dv tapes in bulk?

Stardust, does Fullcompass have a store or just mailorder? I'm from Edgerton (20 Min south of Madtown) and have nowhere to get decent gear.

    Film Club?

Like the founder said, a good thing to do is practice shooting scenes. I try to get my crew together when we don't have a project (or I'll even do it by myself), and practice shooting a type of scene that is either a standard shot that needs to be perfected or a difficult shot I want to get...

    Guilty Pleasures

I guess I when I said intentionally bad, I should have said consistently bad. I'm never disappointed by Troma, because I go in with no expectations, so they are always entertaining. I'll agree that the nudity and sex in Troma is getting ridiculous. The old Troma movies would have maybe one...

    Any Wisconsinites out there?

That's cool. I've got a training video to shoot for a pizza place next week, maybe I'll have my son boom for me, since I need two mics and only have one available stand. I'll let you know how it goes.

New guy... Want to make some short films, but no ideas!

What I did to start filmmaking is something I still do. Take a camera everywhere. Shoot tons of random and interesting images and then try to find similar subject matters in the footage and compile them into an experimental film or music video. Keep doing this and it will help you develop...

    Guilty Pleasures

This is funny. We're splitting hairs over what's a good Troma movie compared to a bad one... in a thread about guilty pleasures?!?!?! Isn't the point of this thread about naming movies we like despite what other people think?

    Any Wisconsinites out there?

That's great Knightly!! How old is he? My 10 year old son always wants to help too, but a lot of the subject matter in my films isn't "kid friendly" so we shoot our own short films at home. I'll have to post some of them soon. He's going to be a great filmmaker. He already picks films apart...

    Film School

I agree with Costa here. I had no interest in school and find that the style of films that I shoot, school wouldn't have done anything to hep me out. I get off my butt and make conatacts every day, so there was no need for me to go. If you want to learn ANYTHING about filmmaking... make some...

    Guilty Pleasures

Since no one can call Troma movies a "Guilty Pleasure" based on the fact they are supposed to be bad... I'd have to say my guilty pleasure is getting Hulu, YouTube, FearNet and indietalk... I LOVE watching indie films! Especially shorts. I love almost all the no budget guerrilla horror...

    wisconSIN Films

I'd love to see what films the rest of you wisconSIN filmmakers are putting out. I work on mostly shorts, but am in pre-production on my first feature. I also shoot commercials, training vdeos, weddings, msic videos, etc (but that's just to finance my movies). Here's a link to my youtube...
