    Who's on APP.NET?

Anyone here other than me on APP.NET? Here's my account: https://alpha.app.net/ryannetta What's APP.NET? It's a Twitter clone with some subtle changes. Instead of 140 characters, you get 256. There's NO ADVERTISING ever because it's user-supported at $35 per year.

    23.98p or 24p?

I'll give that a try, thank you!

    23.98p or 24p?

I'm shooting with a Canon Vixia HF G20. It has four shooting modes: 60p (both fields replicated twice), 30pf (30fps interlaced on 60i timeline), 24pf (24fps interlaced on 60i timeline) and 24F (true 24fps with slow shutter). Canon's "slow shutter" mode leaves the shutter open for the 24th of a...

    23.98p or 24p?

23.98 is pseudo 24 on a 60i timeline. It's interlaced analog NTSC all the way. Personally, I'm shooting in true 24p with a slow shutter. When I export from FCPX into a Pro Res 422 HQ file (.MOV - Quicktime container for H.264), it's framerate will actually say 24, just like a progressive...

editing Best file type for size vs quality

Download Handbrake and manually set the maximum filesize for 4GB, the application will figure out how to compress it properly to achieve a full size 1080 video for that size.

    Old Boy remake coming up!

Whoa whoa whoa… There's a U.S. remake of Oldboy? *views YouTube red band trailer* /rant Number one. To the producers greedy enough to license a remake: Go die in a fire. The Earth is covered in enough water to drown you all if there wasn't enough gasoline to consume your bloated body. Number...

    Is the internet disrupting entertainment?

The internet has permanently changed the way we look at entertainment forever. The television networks know they're in trouble and have no need to exist. Every filmmaker from George Lucas to Sonnyboo is on the same level now and this scares the pants off the Hollywood billionaires--there's no...

I was looking at this one.

    A self-leveling tripod?

I laid rules on top of the head to create a flat 'ceiling' to install the bubble levelers on the tripod head to make them as accurate as possible, but still have to use the legs to adjust. I love the head, it's very smooth, but not on a ball (there's my problem!) I'm thinking on buying a new...

    A self-leveling tripod?

Yep, there's 'bubble levelers' all over it, but with the technology contractors have of self-leveling laser sights, I was hoping someone had integrated it with a tripod. The person that patents the first one will be a millionaire overnight with all the use from Hollywood ^^

    A self-leveling tripod?

I have a problem. I have an extremely heavy duty tripod and fluid head for my HD camera but it seems that no matter how much I try, I can't seem to get it the tripod level (even using levels on the tripod itself). Every scene is 'off' buy a few degrees and it's annoying as hell. I can't see it...

Pros, this thread is for you. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the RGB values for chroma green are R0 G171 B57 If not, tell me how stupid I am and please correct me. I'm painting a 10x20 foot wall this so I don't have to hang my muslin, I'll leave that on the floor. I plan on having the...

archived-videos Manos: The Hands Of Fate Documentary Hotel Torgo Here!

I saw Hotel Torgo many years ago and loved it... obviously much more than Manos itself. I believe there's someone who found the original negatives for the film and is restoring it for an HD release.

I will never stop laughing at...

There was a scene like that in Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run. Burt Reynolds had free reign in those days to look at the camera, smile and be off. But the best was Blazing Saddles. When Harvey Korman starts talking to himself in his office asking how to get rid of Rock Ridge. He ends...

Now that Disney owns Star Wars ...

Restore the legacy of the franchise? Disney only does one thing: Squeeze every last dollar out of a franchise it possibly can. Disney is honestly the LAST company that should have been given access to this franchise because they will (IMHO) abuse it forever. Don't bother expecting great things...

    The Golden Rectangle

I've been playing with it in FCPX and watching the video in the new aspect ratio is a bit strange, but it's pleasing at the same time. Not to wide, not too thin. ...It's interesting as hell, I must admit.

    The Golden Rectangle

In mathematics and the arts, two quantities are in the golden ratio if the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger quantity is equal to the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one. Many 20th century artists and architects have proportioned their works to approximate the golden...
