series What movie would make a good TV series...

I liked The Irishman well enough with the major exception of how they used computers to artificially make the younger versions of De Niro et al. I know I bitch about this kind of thing frequently, but the reality is that older people move differently than young people, and it was (and always is) glaringly obvious that the "young" people in flashbacks weren't young. I DO agree that young people can play older because they can adjust their movements accordingly + that's generally done with plain old fashioned make-up.

Would love to see a series based on Barry Seal, the American pilot (TWA) who decided to fly drugs for the Medellin Cartel and then turned DEA informant. There was an HBO movie in 1991 (of which I saw)

...and apparently one on Netflix in 2017

However this could be a really good series. I also read the book Kings of Cocaine which covers this story and a lot more, in great detail.

@AcousticAl I thought you might say...

ha!

You know, I've always wanted to explore the character of Shonuff, played by the late Julius Carey. He's the villain in the 1980's hit, "The Last Dragon", which was a homage to Bruce Lee as well as a satirical comment on the martial arts world, and I think he stole the show. If you look at the video, from time 3.00 to the end, you'll see Carey's screen presence. I especially loved the point when he said that the hero's mumbo jumbo was what gave Kung Fu a bad name, because that comment was poignant on so many levels.

I can see the character working at a fast food stand, earning minimum wage, even as he goes on a journey to fulfill his martial arts potential. I think that would have been a great spinoff movie or series.

Sloth from The Goonies. Never really thought about that before but man, wouldn't it be great to know more about him? Why he looked like that, why he was chained up? Wouldn't you watch a series called Sloth? His early life leading up to enslavement by his family? But more drama than comedy/adventure.

I'm predicting this idea is going to be stolen from this indietalk post, perhaps by the Young Sheldon producers, and in 6 months I'll be saying "See I told you!"

Fascinating idea. But nobody will ever be able to play Mama Fratelli like Anne Ramsey.
