Yes as a defense attorney you can speak to a witness. I'm assuming you mean a witness for the prosecution... Forget what writers and other people tell you. Why are you asking them for legal advice in the first place? Rookie mistake.

You should hire a professional stuntman for this. They aren't ridiculously expensive and are way better than potentially picking up a manslaughter or negligent homicide case. Just do a little research online for stuntmen for hire.

Every time I have seen boom operators ask to readjust lighting or character placement in order to get proper boom placement for better sound recording, their requests have always been rejected.

You find some hidden gems in non-actors. Just be careful because it can always backfire.
